A full year had passed. Kabir had woven every single letter from Simran into the fabric of his life and the pages of his book. Whenever the clock struck five in the evening, he would still take his place at Table No. 4 in the library. But the heavy sorrow of the past was gone from his face—replaced by a deep, quiet peace and an enduring pride in Simran’s memory.
He had finally completed his novel, His Anonymous Love. Within its pages, he had strung together Simran’s words, her light-pink notes, and the lingering scent of jasmine so beautifully that anyone who read it was moved to tears.
Suddenly, the librarian’s voice called out from the reception desk, "Kabir, a parcel has arrived for you."
Startled, Kabir walked over to the desk and took the package. There was no sender's name written on the label, but as soon as he tore open a corner of the wrapping, that familiar, subtle fragrance of jasmine drifted into the air.
His heart thudded against his chest. He quickly unwrapped the rest of the parcel. Inside rested the very first published hardbound sample of his novel, His Anonymous Love. Attached to it was a brief note from the publisher:
"Kabir, your story is touching hearts everywhere. We wanted to send this first copy to you before the official book launch. You have turned an unfinished love into something immortal."
Kabir lifted the book gently into his hands. The cover featured a soft pink gradient with the faint silhouettes of two souls. He flipped to the dedication page, where he had long ago instructed them to print:
"Dedicated to S — whose words still beat inside my heart."
Kabir placed the book down on Table No. 4, at the exact spot where he had found the very first letter a year ago. Looking out through the window, he watched the soft orange twilight spread across the sky while the cool breeze carried the faint scent of jasmine.
With a gentle smile, he looked up toward the heavens and murmured, "Look, Simran... the world is going to read our story now."
