Chapter 7.
The next day.
"Where are you going?" Damian, who was enjoying breakfast, saw Hallena coming out of the room.
"None of your business."
Damian stood up from his seat, roughly pulled Hallena's hand, and sat her on the dining chair table.
"Have you forgotten your duties as a wife? Come with me to breakfast."
Hallena clucked irritably, still upset with Damian's behavior last night. After breakfast, Hallena headed to the hospital to see how Raina was doing.
"Hallena?" Hallena's mother smiled at Hallena's arrival that morning.
"How is Raina?" Looking at Raina who still looked pale.
"She's already better."
"Good." Hallena smiled with relief.
"Hallena Xavier here last night."
"Xavier?"
"Yes, he came to see Raina and brought a lot of food."
Hallena looked confused, what did Xavier do that for?
"Xavier seems like a nice guy. I hope Damian can come and see Raina." Hallena's mother was a little disappointed with Damian's attitude who never seemed to care about Raina's condition.
"Damian is busy, he'll come and see Raina later." Helena was forced to lie.
It wasn't long before Hallena left the hospital. She called Xavier and asked to meet at the cafe. After 30 minutes of waiting Xavier came to the cafe.
"Sorry, I'm late." Xavier sat in front of Hallena, "What's wrong?"
"You don't have to act like you care about my family."
Hallena spoke matter-of-factly. Maybe Xavier had good intentions to visit Raina at the hospital but to Hallena Xavier was just like Damian. An arrogant man with no feelings.
Xavier smiled slightly at that, "Is this how you thank me?"
"Do I have to -"
"Don't get me wrong, I came because a friend of mine was there." Xavier took a sip of coffee and stood up from his seat, "I heard this restaurant needs waiters." Placing a piece of paper on the table.
Hallena sighed rudely at the sight of Xavier who walked out of the cafe and picked up the piece of paper containing the address of a restaurant. Helena, who still needed a job, finally went to the restaurant.
"This is the address?" Hallena saw a large restaurant with a classic design.
"Welcome." A female waitress welcomed her.
"Excuse me, is there a job opening here?"
"Just a moment." The service woman seemed to be talking to her superior.
"Do you want to apply for a job?" A man approached Hallena
"Yes."
"Come to my office." The man led Hallena to his office, "Have a seat."
"Thank you."
"Did you bring your resume?
"Yes, just a moment." Hallena quickly took out the job application documents, "Here."
The man seemed to read it carefully. Hallena looked uneasy, the restaurant looked like a luxury restaurant with minimal education it was unlikely that Hallena would be accepted to work there.
"Alright, tomorrow you can work as a waiter."
"I've been accepted?" Hallena looked both surprised and incredulous.
"Yes, you can work tomorrow."
Hallena smiled happily. She never thought she would finally get a job.
"Thank you." That couple of days Hallena couldn't hide her happiness, finally she didn't have to ask Damian to pay for Raina's treatment.
The next day early in the morning Hallena was already preparing to go to work.
"Where are you going?" Damian, who was already sitting on the dining chair, looked at Hallena who had just come out of her room.
"I'm going to work."
"Work?"
"Yes, I've got a job."
Damian stood up from his seat and approached Hallena, "Come with me to breakfast." Roughly pulling Hallena's hand.
Hallena brushed him off, "No, I'll be late for work."
"Do as I say. I can ask your workplace to expel you and I can even buy your current workplace." Damian spoke with a haughty face.
Hallena was forced to accompany Damian to breakfast. It looked like it was getting late, Hallena was afraid of arriving late on her first day of work, while Damian seemed to deliberately stall his breakfast time, making Hallena even more annoyed.
Hallena immediately took a taxi, the streets looked jammed Hallena decided to get out of the taxi and ran a little towards the restaurant.
"I'm late." Hallena accelerated her footsteps.
"Sorry, I'm late." Hallena approached her boss who was standing, "Sorry, I got stuck in traffic." Hallena looked down, feeling guilty for arriving late on her first day of work.
"Hurry up and start your work."
Hallena was silent, looking at her superior's face which seemed calm and not angry.
"Okay, once again I apologize." Hallena hurried to start her work that day.
Hallena did her job well that day.
"Hallena was serving customers there," said a coworker.
"Okay."
Hallena saw several men who had just entered the restaurant.
"Damian?" Hallena was surprised to see Damian, Xavier and two men entering the restaurant, "How is this?" Hallena was suddenly nervous.
"Hallena, serve them quickly." Rebuked her coworker seeing Hallena who was silent.
"Okay." Hallena sighed and walked over to Damian's table, "Excuse me, this is the menu at our restaurant, please." Hallena placed the menu on the table.
Damian glanced at her with a surprised look but acted as if he didn't recognize Hallena. After choosing some menus, Hallena hurried to make the food. It wasn't long before Hallena delivered the food and drinks she ordered.
"Here's the order." Hallena placed the food and drinks on the table but unfortunately one of the drinks accidentally spilled.
"Oh my, what are you doing?" A man looked annoyed that his clothes had been caught in the drink.
"Sorry, I'm really sorry."
"Can't you work?" The man raised his voice, attracting the attention of several customers.
"What's going on?" Hallena's boss who heard the commotion immediately approached.
"This employee of yours can't work!" The man cursed again.
"Never mind, it's just a small problem." Xavier tried to break it up.
"Are your eyes not working?" The man was about to punch Hallena's shoulder.
"Don't embarrass yourself." Xavier held back, glaring at the man.
"Please forgive my employee's negligence." Hallena's boss bowed and apologized.
Hallena returned to the kitchen where some of her coworkers were gossiping about her. Hallena rushed to the toliet where she couldn't hold back her tears. Her first day at work was a complete mess and to her sadness Damian saw the whole incident but Damian didn't defend her in the slightest as he calmly ate his food and continued to act as if he didn't know Hallena.
