Chapter 8.
After work, Hallena rushed home.
"Damian?" Hallena's steps stopped when she saw Damian sitting on the sofa waiting for her.
"Do you know what time it is?"
"My working hours are like this."
Damian stood up from his seat, pulling Hallena's hand towards the dining table.
"Look, there's no food served," Damian said in an annoyed tone.
"I'll always be home late so there's no way I can prepare dinner."
An annoyed Damian grabbed both of Hallena's cheeks, "Then what good are you? Hurry up and prepare dinner, I don't like eating out." Damian released his grip.
Hallena chuckled in annoyance, even though Damian had rarely eaten her cooking before, Hallena felt Damian was playing tricks on her.
"Why are my clothes in such a mess?" Helena was surprised to see all her clothes scattered in front of the room.
"Now you sleep in the guest room, I don't want to sleep with you anymore."
"What?" Hallena swallowed her disappointment as Damian hurt her feelings again.
One week later.
After a week of working at the restaurant, Hallena was happy with her new job.
"Today is my mom's birthday, she wants a special dinner at our house so prepare the best dinner for her," Damian ordered that morning.
Hallena sighed in frustration, even though today she wanted to rest at home because she was off work but there was another job waiting for her. That day Hallena was busy, until the afternoon Hallena was still busy in the kitchen preparing a lot of food.
"Hallena, you look very busy." A surprised Hallena immediately looked back.
"Serly?"
Axel, Damian's brother, and his wife arrived that afternoon.
"I'm very busy, would you like to help me?"
"Of course not." Serly smiled, "But you have to say if I help you." She continued in a whisper.
Hallena tried to hold back her emotions, but Serly was always acting sneaky with her. Hallena was tired that day, all day she was busy preparing food but Serly was just sitting on the sofa.
Damian's parents finally came, Mrs. Aline's birthday party was held modestly at Damian's house and only close family came.
"This food is so good, did you cook it Hallena?" asked Mrs. Aline.
"I did. " Serly replied, "Hallena complained that she was tired so I took over."
"That's very kind of you Serly." Madame Aline smiled.
Hallena smiled sarcastically at Serly's very sly attitude.
"Helena, how is your pregnancy going? Damian, you are watching your wife, right?" Mrs. Aline asked.
"Of course, I look after my wife and she is doing well," Damian replied with a smile.
"That's good."
After dinner, they chatted, Hallena preferring to enjoy her drink in the back garden.
"Hallena why don't you accompany your husband?" Serly approached, glancing at Damian who was also in the back garden but busy with his cell phone.
Hallena stood up from her seat choosing not to respond to Serly.
"Is your relationship that bad?"
"Do you need to interfere?"
"No, I feel Damian's attitude is too cold with you, I don't think he loves you." Sarly showed her annoying smile.
Hallena was about to leave but Serly whispered something to her.
"I don't think Damian loves you and you're just a cheap woman who wants to marry him for money."
Hallena who was fed up with Serly's taunts pushed Serly's body and right behind her was a swimming pool making Serly fall into the pool.
"How dare you!" Serly who was upset immediately got up.
"You annoy me so much." Hallena tried to resist.
"You poor woman." The increasingly annoyed Serly retaliated by pushing Hallena into the swimming pool.
"Aagghh." Hallena tried to wave her hand. Damn, Hallena couldn't swim.
"Your wife fell into the pool." Xavier who saw told Damian.
"She should be able to swim." Damian looked indifferent, still busy staring at his phone screen.
"Please..." Hallena felt her breath getting choked.
"Don't you know your wife can't swim?"
Xavier immediately took off his suit and threw himself into the pool, helping Hallena who was about to drown.
"What's going on?" Mrs. Aline, who heard the commotion rushed to the back garden, "Serly?Hallena?why are you soaked like this?"
"We slipped and fell into the pool," Serly replied.
"Hurry up and change your clothes and you'll get sick." Said Mrs. Aline who looked worried.
"Let's change your clothes." Axel escorted Serly to Damian's room.
"Are you okay?" Xavier looked at Hallena's pale face.
"I'm fine." Hallena tried to hold back her sadness to see Damian who looked calm when he almost drowned and it was Xavier who helped him.
"Why aren't Hallena's clothes here?" Serly, who was about to change her clothes, was confused because there were no Hallena's clothes there.
"Serly?"
"Where are your clothes? I'm cold."
"In the guest room, I was cleaning the closet so I moved them there." Hallena looked for an excuse.
"Cleaning the closet? "Serly felt strange, that excuse sounded absurd to her ears.
The next day Hallena returned to work as usual. Today Hallena was not feeling well but still forced herself to work.
"Helena, are you okay?" Her coworker looked worriedly at Hallena's pale face.
"I'm fine."
"Then serve the customers over there."
"Xavier?" Hallena looked at Xavier who had just arrived and sat there, "Do you have anything to order?" Hallena handed him the menu.
"Are you sick?" Looking worriedly at Hallena's face.
"I'm fine."
Xavier looked through the menu list, Hallena who had been standing was getting dizzy and massaged her temples several times.
"Hallena!"
Xavier was surprised to see Hallena who suddenly fainted and the people in the restaurant panicked without thinking Xavier immediately carried Hallena into his car and was about to take her to the hospital.
"I want to go home." On the way, Hallena came to her senses.
"You have to go to the hospital."
"I just want to go home."
"Hallena -"
"I want to go home." Hallena pleaded.
Xavier finally complied, taking Hallena home to his house.
"I can walk on my own." Hallena refused when Xavier helped her walk after getting out of the car.
Hallena's head felt dizzy again.
"Xavier?" Hallena was surprised when Xavier suddenly picked her up, there was a strange feeling she felt, "Just put me down on the sofa."
Xavier put Hallena down on the sofa.
"Want me to get you a drink?"
Hallena shook her head.
"You have a fever, you should see a doctor." Xavier rubbed the forehead and hair that covered a little of Hallena's face.
"Xavier? Hallena?
Both of them were surprised to see Serly who came to visit that afternoon.
