Weekend Nuisance

1005 Words
'What the actual hell is this young man up to?' Henry wondered. He stared at his phone after Jude rudely hung up on him, more concerned than upset over his friend's new behaviour. Determined to put an end to the mystery Jude currently had going on, Henry opted to proceed to Jude's parent's house, against Jude's wishes and contrary to what they had agreed upon. Henry snatched his car keys and dashed out of the house into his BMW convertible eight series. The impatience and anxiety that disturbed him, didn't allow him to give the car a break to steam. He sped off as soon as the engine revved alive. There was a sense of urgency accompanying his visit to Jude's parent's house. 'Henry dear, it's been a while' Jude's mom cheerfully greeted Henry when he arrived. Her countenance was welcoming, yet she wondered if there was a problem attached to his visit because Henry never showed up at their house without Jude with him. 'Hello, Mrs Laswon' Jude replied his best friend's mom as cheerfully as she had greeted him. Observing the premises, he knew already that Jude was not anywhere around his parent's house as he had earlier claimed that he would be. 'I was passing by and thought to stop and say hello,' Henry lied. 'Oh bless your soul my dear, how thoughtful of you' Jude's mom replied, giving Henry a warm hug. 'I just baked some pancakes for breakfast, you don't look like you have had anything to eat yet, have you?' Mrs Laswon asked Henry, pulling him gently behind her towards the kitchen to hand him a plate. Henry did a little dance of celebration because he was starving at the moment, and the fact that he realized that Jude was lying to him made his tummy rumble nervously. He thought there was a problem between himself and his best friend. 'I'd definitely love to have some. As a matter of fact, I'm starving,' Henry replied, standing behind Jude's mom while she fetched a couple of pieces of pancakes for him. Apart from the fact that Henry was hungry at the moment, he thought about using the time he would spend having the meal as an opportunity to stall and see if Jude would show up. Maybe he had to branch off somewhere else briefly, and it was delaying him. Henry thought about giving him the benefit of the doubt, but time passed and Jude was nowhere to be found. 'I'll be on my way back home now, ma'am,' a grateful and well-fed Henry told Mrs Laswon and was soon driving off on his way home. Jude arrived at Agnes' house to see her absence, unknown to him. She had left for her mom's place just a couple of minutes before he arrived. This time he was parked more comfortably in front of her little apartment. He had a clearer view of the apartment now, than the previous night, and oh, how disapproving he was of what he was seeing. Not that the place was a dump, but he was Jude Laswon. His son had no business living in such a place, and neither did the mother of his child deserve to stay there either. Jude knocked on the door softly. 'Agnes' he bellowed when she failed to attend to the door after he had knocked for a while. Her car was parked at the exact spot he saw it the previous night, that was what made him so sure that she was inside the house and probably ignoring him just as she liked to do. After he handed her forty thousand dollars? He thought it was laughable, so he rapped at the door a couple of more times until it became obvious that she was not at home. 'Damn' Jude blurted. He had come all the way to that part of town just for him to see her absence. It upset him beyond all reasonable doubt. Desperate times called for desperate measures, so he thought of the next line of action to take. He was going to stop by Agnes' mom's house, just to cover up all the possibilities there were that would give him a chance to see her. 'I wouldn't be such a nuisance if she had just given me her damn number' Jude said to himself. 'Or if I had stuck my p***s in my pants from the onset, I definitely would not have been a nuisance to her at all' he added, smiling sheepishly at himself. He set off on his way to Agnes' mom's house. By the time he got there, he saw Agnes' mom outside the house, sitting on a rocking chair while she spoke words that Jude couldn't hear because of how far he was from her. The old lady had to be communicating with someone inside the house, Jude thought, while he continued to watch from a distance. Just as he had guessed, Agnes stepped out of the house, handed her mom breakfast, and went back inside. 'There you are' Jude blurted while he continued to observe the scenario. This was a new challenge for him. He thought he had gotten comfortable sitting around Agnes from the previous night, and that meeting with her today would be easy. Well, if he could wait at her house in her absence long enough until she returned, then it would be easy for him to access her, but he was not going to stand being patient without knowing when she would be back, so he had to look for a way around visiting her at her mom's house. 'For f**k's sakes Jude Laswon, you are so screwed' he said out loud to himself, looking in the mirror to see if he was presentable enough to meet Agnes' mom. Jude Laswon, all of a sudden, had lost his confidence. 'Alright, here goes nothing' he said and stepped out of his vehicle, walking slowly towards Agnes' mom's house, hoping that his confidence would not fail him.
