"Is everything okay?" Jude asked.
Agnes spun and looked at him. This was the second time in the past quarter of an hour that Jude had startled her.
"Yes. I'm just saying good bye," Agnes said, blocking Jude from going close to her mother.
Jude's heart slightly broke as he looked at the old lady. She was sniffing and obviously sobbing.
Was it because of him she was crying like that? Was it because he was taking Agnes back that she was crying so intensely?
Jude must have underestimated the impact his actions would have on the woman. Even if Agnes ever worried, the fact that she was close to him made him able to bear it, but this woman was alone in that house. What if something happened to her?
