The energy in the room was heavy. It struggled not to burst out of Jude Lawson's presence, but it couldn't carry the angry and hunting instinct that Jude Lawson oozed.
Agnes was staring at Jude.
Jude towered above Agnes, several feet above her, he lowered himself to look into her eyes.
He stared hard at her, as if he was trying to sniff out the truth.
How could she say she just happened to stumble into Jason Gale there? Jason was not from that sort of neighborhood, so how could he be found around there if he was not, in fact, invited by Agnes.
"What on Earth would Jason Gale happen to be looking for in that cheap bar?" Jude asked Agnes with a sultry voice.
Agnes frowned.
Jude had just insulted her heritage because Agnes had been attending that bar since she was a teenager.
