Chapter 7 The villagers grew unhappy when they learned that Tebanis would not be joining them on the journey to Eiskre. Some resented that he had not been present to defend them, and their pain left a mark on the swordsman. He and Koragi took the few supplies some of the refugees offered: a water skin, two light cloaks that were too big for either of them, and a few bits of flint. Tebanis accepted only a few offerings of food, but did insist that Koragi eat something with the villagers before they left. She wasn’t hungry, but she knew she needed the strength. Some of the villagers had already gone to fetch livestock from the southern fields, so Koragi was comfortable eating from salvaged dried and canned provisions.
