As Lauren walks down the halls of the school, she is continuously bumped around and ran into by many high schoolers on their way to classes. No one ever noticed her. Since kindergarten, Lauren has never been noticed by anyone. So this isn't anything surprising to her. She is use to being unseen and unnoticed. She has never had a boyfriend and her only friend she has is the president of the chess club; Leslie. Leslie has been her friend since 1st grade when she first moved here with her grandparents from Florida. Why her grandparents chose to move to Indiana, no one knows. Ever since that very first day of school, they have been inseparable.
Leslie and Lauren meet at their usual spot outside the school cafeteria. "Hey girl, I tried to call you earlier! There is a new family moving into the old Anderson's house! Rumor has it, there is a cute boy moving in." Leslie had overheard her parents talking about a new family moving in across the street, which happened to be the vacant house right new door to Lauren's home. "Maybe you'll have your first boyfriend! exclaimed Leslie excitedly. She knows how bad Lauren has wanted a boyfriend. Lauren always felt like she was the black sheep. She never had a boyfriend or even a first kiss before. Leslie has been in a relationship for two years with Jack. They have a happy and comfortable relationship and even talked about moving in together at the end of our senior year.
Yes. I'm a senior who has never had a boyfriend. I have never been kissed, hugged, or even held hands with the opposite gender. But most of all, I am a virgin and I hate it. Leslie talks about her relationship with Jack and tries to tell me it's is not that big of a deal. I know she is lying though. The night Leslie lost her virginity, she called me and gushed about how great it was and how much she loves him. I was so happy for her but at the same time, a little jealous. I wanted a relationship like Leslie and Jack. But with the way things were going, it feels a little far fetched. No one even talked to me, let alone want to be in a relationship with me. I was going to be single forever.
Just then, a black escalade pulled up. In the small town I lived in, escalades were one in a million. So when this escalade made its way to the front of the school parking lot, everyone stopped what they were doing and stared. Who was this? They were obviously new in town. All the cars and trucks people drove here were at least 10 years old and have been two tracked in at least once. This SUV looked like it just left the car lot. The escalade came to a stop and the passenger side door opened. What happened next left Lauren almost falling to her knees.
The most gorgeous guy stepped out of the SUV. He was tall with almost jet black hair that fell just a little above his shoulders and the brightest blue eyes I had ever seen. I felt like I was swimming in the ocean just looking at them. He was tan and every muscle on his body was defined with no help to his clothes that stuck to his skin like they were wet. He was every girls dream guy and he was walking my way.
My eyes got huge and my heart started beating faster than I've ever felt it before. I started to feel like I was going to have a heart attack. Why was he coming my way? No guy has every noticed me. I was invisible to everyone.
"Hey there." he said. " I seen you earlier and thought I would introduce myself since I am your new neighbor. My name is Cole, what's your name?"
I couldn't talk. My mind was moving a million times a minute and nothing would come out of my mouth. Help! I felt like I was drowning in those beautiful blue eyes. "Her name is Lauren and I am Leslie. Nice to meet you." Leslie said.
"Well it is nice to meet you Lauren and Leslie. I should get to my classes. Wouldn't want to be late on my first day." Cole sparked a smile that could light up the whole night sky.
How could someone be so perfect? Where did this guy come from? Lauren had some many questions but one thing was for sure, she liked this guy and she didn't even know him. She was so distracted by her own thoughts that she had no idea that Cole had been sitting there staring at her. Little did Lauren know, Cole felt the same way.
