CHAPTER 4

Derion We pulled off and left the parking lot of the little diner. My heart ached knowing I was leaving my love behind, but I had to get back to Silverwood–back to my pack. They needed their leaders. My pack warriors were well trained and could protect the pack lands with ease, but it wasn’t a good look for the pack to be without its Alpha for too long. I laid my head back on the seat and closed my eyes to picture my mate's face in my mind.  “Wow, she turned him into a lovesick pup in like an hour,” Ori laughed while Anthony joined in.  “I never thought I would see the day big bad Derion cracked,” Anthony teased.  “f**k y’all,” I growled. “Ori, you were the same way when you met Gia. We literally had to send a search party to find you,” I said, laughing at the memory.  “Hey! That’s different!” He replied defensively.  “Not really, you still turn to mush around Gia,” Anthony said through his laugh.  It went on like that for an hour and a half until we finally reached Silverwood pack lands.  “I have to go back to get her,” I said with fortitude. I don't care what I have to do, I'm bringing her home. “Yeah we know,” Ori responded as we stopped at a checkpoint at the pack borders. “What’s the plan?” He turned around to ask, ready to jump into action.  “I left her my number. I’ll give her two days to call me, but I’m sending Anton and Micah to look after her in the meantime. After those two days, I’m going back for her myself." "We know where she works, so we have somewhere to start. I’m going to get an apartment somewhere in the area so I can be near her. I'll keep a car there for when I’m around town. I don’t know if the town only has humans or if there are other shifters, witches, or whatever’s around. And I need to find out who this boyfriend is. He has to go. Eriana is mine and so is her child. He can leave willingly or die. I would prefer it if he would stick around for the kid to know her biological father, but if he wants to make it an issue, we can easily eliminate him. Last, find her social media,” I barked out orders, and I wasn’t the least bit surprised to find Ori handing me his phone with i********: open to her page. I saw two wolves run past us, and I knew Anthony had already dispatched Anton and Micah to look after their Luna.  I sent them a picture from her i********: so they knew who to look for when they got there.  “Anton, Micah. Find out what the population is like in that city. I want to know if there are any other supernaturals around her and what the situation is. I sent a photo of her on your phone. Also, find me an apartment near her but not too close by.” “Yes, Alpha,” they replied in unison.  Shortly after, Anthony pulled up to the packhouse and I couldn’t be happier to be back home. While the hotels were nice, I really missed my bed. It was almost midnight, and I had a splitting headache from Jordan whimpering and whining since we left Eriana. He wanted his mate just as much as I did, maybe even more. We grabbed our bags from the trunk and Anthony and I walked up to the packhouse where the head Omega, Cecilia, greeted us. She was a sweet old lady who I’ve known all my life. She’s been like a mother to me after my parents were killed in a rogue attack.  “Good evening, Alpha, Beta,” she said as she reached for my bags.  “Oh stop it, Cece,” I said as I swatted her hand away. There was no way I was having her carry my bags up three flights of stairs. She bowed slightly and smiled.  “Good evening, Cece,” Anthony responded, wrapping her in a hug. “How was your trip? Are you hungry?” She asked. “You look thin! The both of you! Oh! I don’t know why they feed y’all such terrible food at these things! Let me make y’all something before you wither away to nothing!” She fussed over us like this every time we were away.  I hugged her tightly and kissed the top of her head. “There’s no need, Cece. We stopped and ate on the road,” I informed her as I let her go. She eyed me suspiciously and pinched my ribs.  “Ow! What was that for!”  “You’re withering away, Derion! You need to put some meat on your bones!”  Anthony laughed and slipped away before she forced him to eat a mountain of food, bowing slightly as I rolled my eyes at him.  “Cece, I need you to have some omegas make up a room for me, please,” I said, changing the subject. “Actually, two rooms,” I corrected.  Cece looked around me to see who and where our guests were. Her face fell in disappointment and I could see the confusion on her face as she scrunched her eyebrows. “She’s not here yet, but I’m going to bring her home soon and she has a child — a daughter,” I whispered.  She smiled and nodded knowingly. I didn't have to say anything more, Cece was like a psychic or maybe she's just been a mom for a really long time. “Yes, Alpha!” She said happily as she walked away.  “Hey, hey! Not so fast. You don’t need to do it tonight, it might take some time and please keep this under wraps. I don’t want the pack getting their hopes up. You know, just in case..” I said with a bit of anguish. She took my hand and gave me a reassuring squeeze.  “She’ll come home, dear! Don’t you worry about that. How could she deny such a handsome face? We’ll get everything together for her starting tomorrow and your secret is safe with us,” she said with a smile.  “Thank you, Cece.” “No need to thank me! Sleep well, Alpha!” She said as she scurried away.  I walked up the stairs to the third floor and mentally made a note to have elevators installed. There’s no way I’m going to have my Luna and our daughter walking up three flights of stairs every day.  As I reached my room, I instantly undressed down to my boxers and walked towards the bathroom to shower. I turned the water on and sat on the counter to let the water heat.  As I sat there, I thought about my beautiful mate and her soft brown eyes and her perfect pink lips contrasting against her beautiful chocolate skin tone.  I entered the shower with my mind still on my mate. Her voice ringing in my head as I washed the day away. I thought of her perfect lips and imagined what they would feel like wrapped around my d**k. Just the thought had me hard as a rock. I imagined her naked in front of me as I stroked the full length of my manhood. I daydreamed of her pinned between me and the shower wall while I penetrated the gold mine between her beautiful thighs; her calling out my name while having back-to-back orgasms as I ravaged her body.  I braced myself against the wall as I released my seed into the running water at the thought of her shattering around me. I couldn’t wait to have her here with me to make these fantasies a reality.  As I finished my shower, I dried off in front of the mirror, staring at the scar running along my cheek. The constant reminder of my inadequacy and failure. I stared at myself for what seemed like hours until I became disgusted with my appearance.  It wasn’t your fault. You were a child. You couldn’t even shift yet! You shouldn’t blame yourself for this.  I still should have been able to protect them. To protect my pack.  No! They were supposed to protect you, and they did. You’re alive because they did what they were supposed to.  And they’re dead because I didn’t.  With that last statement, I shut down the connection between myself and Jordan. I grabbed my phone as I walked to my bed. When I opened up my i********:, I searched for my mate and scrolled through her pictures until I fell asleep.
