Eleanor trailed behind Gus, anxious to see Nailah and the baby. Caine kept a firm hold of her hand. It was quite possibly the only thing that kept her grounded. Without a glance behind him, Gus pushed open the door to their birthing room and ushered them inside. There was still quite a bit of activity as staff moved the various monitors aside while others finished checking the baby’s vitals and measurements. A tired Nailah watched as the baby voiced his discomfort with disgruntled cries. Soon enough, he was swaddled and returned to her.
