Julia’s POV
After my eyes adapted to the dim lighting, I peered about the dimly lit room where I had just woken up and saw that it was a jail. There were other cells with individuals in them. The man in the cell across from mine appeared to have been there for a very long period since he was coated in dried blood.
There was an elderly man in the cell across from me, and he appeared to be old. Why would they keep someone so old in here? After so many years of racing and surviving, I started to feel depressed because I didn't want to pass away in that manner. I attempted to stand up, but my hands and legs were shackled to the wall, making it impossible for me to move. I leaned back and accepted my fate; I had no idea when I had fallen asleep. My body was still quite tired when I woke up and saw the sun peeking in through a small hole in the upper right corner of my cage.
When my cell's doors open, two men in guard uniforms seize me and say, "It's time for you to meet the King, rogue." The man with the scar from the corner of his right eye down to his cheeks addresses me in a disgusted manner, and I can see the contempt in his gaze. King? The King's bundle is this one! I'm finished since the King will undoubtedly kill me. My eyes well up with tears. As the unattractive guy pushed me violently out of my cell and up a set of stairs, the other guard trailed behind us. We went through a hallway before arriving at a magnificently crafted enormous door.
The guard shoved me in the direction of the king and had me kneel when I saw a throne room with the monarch sitting on his throne and other elders. The other guard informed the king, "My King, this is the rouge that the Royal Beta caught lurking around the territory." The elders mutter angrily. The monarch thunders, "How dare you enter my territory, you filthy rogue." I said nothing. How could I respond? There was no point in explaining.
To make a change. Either way, I would be slain. Furthermore, I lacked the energy to even talk. Someone shoved me violently from behind. "I'm sorry, my king. I was just passing when I saw a deer and stopped to get my fill," the king said in response to a question. I said, keeping my head lowered, "I was leaving, I swear." The voice behind me was irate and screamed, "That is not an excuse to trespass,"
The king gives the order, "Look at me rouge." Take a look at him. It was forbidden for a lowly wolf like me to stare the king in the eyes. I paused. His voice thundered, "Look at me," and I shuddered. The world stops as I lift my head and meet the King's eyes, and my wolf leaps with delight, yelling "Mate." My f*****g mate is the king of wolves? Why me, moon goodness? The wolf in my thoughts cries, "Mate no like us, mate no want us," while the king looks at me with scorn and hatred.
"Take her to my floor's empty room, then lock her in there. The monarch gives the guard instructions: "There should be two guards standing in front of the door, and no one is permitted to enter without my consent." "My king please I promise to leave here, please just let me go, My king!" I cry as the unsightly guard yanks me kicking and screaming out of the throne chamber. After climbing some stairs, we reach a floor with just two doors. They lead me to the smaller door, let me inside the room, and throw me onto the bed.
The second guard, who appeared rather kind, stated, "Stay here and don't try to escape, you will even fail before you start, so I advise that you just do what you're asked to do." I gave him a strange look, but I nodded, and as he left, I heard a click, signifying that the door had been locked. I had no desire to remain here. I was unable to. Over the years, I had fought to stay alive and plan my retaliation against my uncle. To hold him accountable for all of his wrongdoings against me. Remaining here was a challenge.
I couldn't accomplish my life's ambition if I stayed here. I tore out my uncle's heart and saw him squirm in agony, collapse at my feet, and plead. How am I going to do that? I had no idea yet, but even if it was the last thing I ever did, I was determined to do it. I'll do it for Stella, Sam, Mama, and Papa. We must exact revenge for their deaths.
Three guards were moving about the area when I approached the open window and peered down. I have never heard of a king rejecting his chosen partner from the moon goddess, so it's clear from his disgusted look that he doesn't want me. Am I doing something wrong? Am I not attractive enough? Is there something malevolent circling me? My inquiries made me giggle. Was it not clear? I was surrounded by a gloomy cloud.
For quite some time, I had been bouncing from one catastrophe to another. If he rejects me, I don't think I'll be able to handle it because I've heard what rejection does to wolves. My head hurts from crying so much that I fall asleep. The sound of shuffling feet wakes me up, and I notice numerous maids removing my garments. I struggle to get away from them, but they appear to have a solid hold. "The king has ordered that you look presentable before he comes to see you again," a maid informs her.
