Jade POV After we left Julian’s house that night, the insanely attractive and hot brother of Megan, all I could think about was the kiss, before that woman came to interrupt everything, that is. Who was she anyway? I wasn’t sure but she didn’t look like she was welcome with the look on Brent; Julian’s best friend, and Megan’s face. They looked like she was bad news, but nothing much was on Julian’s face. That wasn’t even a big deal, I hadn’t been able to read her all night. I was still hunting for apartment, but I was going to my old one soon to grab some of my stuff, and Megan would be waiting to pick me up. All she said I had to do was text her on my way and she would be waiting out front to pick me up. I grabbed my phone and quickly texted her before getting into the taxi. I gave the driver the address and my phone beeped with a response from Megan. Megan: Got it. I’ll be there. There’s a change, but don’t worry about it. What change was she talking about, I wondered but just shrugged it away. Twenty minutes later, I was in the apartment so I opened the door as silently as I could. I didn’t want to have to run into Jenna if she was here, so… As I stepped into the apartment, that thought drifted away because right there in front of me was Peter and Jenna in our kitchen with Jenna’s back to him and Peter’s pants around his ankle. I don’t want to have to describe the rest. What was I thinking that they might be feeling bad about their betrayal. I really was a fool. I couldn’t believe I was thinking of having a talk with Jenna. I thought maybe this was a mistake, and maybe Peter had lured her into this, but here they were. Hissing, I dropped my keys noisily on the table by the door where we left our umbrellas and stuff, noisily enough to hear me, and walked past them to my room. I packed quickly, then texted Megan. Me: You won’t believe this. Just walked in on them (you know who) going at it by the kitchen counter. Megan: Oh s**t! I’m sorry. I’ll be up there soon. Throwing my phone in my bag, I dragged my suitcase out of the room. By the time I came back out, they were already dressed and standing apart. As if I cared about that. “Where will you go?” It was Peter’s voice, and I froze. Squaring my shoulders, I turned back to look at him. “Why the hell do you care?” I asked. “Look, honey…” “Don’t you dare call me that, you bastard. That was what you were calling my best friend with your head between her legs that night.” I said, shaking my head at the recollection. “Pete, you should tell her.” Jenna said, her voice the usual soft one that sounded like it couldn’t come from a two faced b***h like her. I looked from Peter to Jenna, and then back to Peter. “Tell me what?” I asked. There was silence in the room, so maybe that was why I could hear my heart pounding, wondering what they wanted me to know about. “We’re moving in together.” Jenna said. “And we are going to get married after graduation.” Move together? Get married. Wait, was I sleeping at the back of that taxi and this was some dream? If that was it, then maybe I should just wake up. But it was real, the thundering sound in her ears told me it was. Behind me, someone spoke before I could, and I was grateful for their intervention because I would have sounded so shaky. “Well, thankfully, she doesn’t care about that, because she’s getting married to me as well.” “What?” I whispered as I look behind me to see Julian and Megan standing in the doorway. “What?” I heard Jenna and Peter said out loud at the same time. What was he talking about! What was he doing here anyway? I asked, I wanted to ask rather, but my voice was trapped somewhere in my throat. He must have thought to come to my rescue I thought, so I decided to play along. I smiled and said. “Hey, Julian. You’re here.” He nodded with a smile at me. “Yes baby.” ** I couldn’t believe it when Megan explained Jade’s situation to me. I had only met up with her for lunch when Jade text had arrived my sister’s phone. When she told me she had to go pick Jade up, I had jumped at the opportunity to see her again and said I didn’t mind tagging along. Here I was now, seeing them talk to her about moving together and getting married. Didn’t they have any shame? Before I could stop myself, I said. “Well, thankfully, she doesn’t care about that because she’s getting married to me as well.” I heard them exclaimed as Jade turned to look at me. I could see she was on the verge of crying and I wanted to beat the s**t out of the scumbag in front of me. I wanted to wrap my hands around her and comfort her, but I stood where I was. Damn, she was even more beautiful than when I met her at the club. Her face was makeup free and she looked even more beautiful. “Hey, Julian. You’re here.” Jade said, probably finally deciding to go with my ruse just so they see that she didn’t care about them. It would be a bonus if any of them recognized who I was. “Yes, baby.” I said, walking to her to kiss her forehead, then I grabbed her suitcase and her hand and then I started to pull her out of the apartment. Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw my sister blocked the other woman when she started to come after us and she said. “Don’t you dare. Have some shame, will you, or are you suddenly interested in him as well?” I didn’t hear her response, but I didn’t care. I wouldn’t want anything to do with her even if my life depended on it. We soon got downstairs and we walked to my car. As we waited for Megan to join us, Jade looked at me with those beautiful green eyes of hers and said. “Thank you for saving me back there. I don’t know how you come to be here, but thank you.” She wrapped her hands around herself. “And I’m sorry for putting you in that situation. Trust me, I’ll try to repay you.” “Don’t even say that, it’s nothing. They’re the scumbags that should be apologizing, and you don’t have to repay me.” I said. She shrugged her slender and creamy shoulder. “I don’t like being indebted to people. I would pay you back if the opportunity ever comes.” She said. I wanted to tell her to be careful that I might hold her to her words in the future, then the thoughts came to me and before I could stop myself, I said. “You could marry me. That’s the only way to repay me.” It seemed like I was doing that a lot, saying things before I could think about them when I was with her. She looked at me with those eyes that could very well be my undoing if care wasn’t taken. “What?” She asked me. “I mean, it will be a win win for the both of us. I need a wife, and in exchange, I’ll pay off your student loans and help your Mom.” I said. “Did you do a background check on me?” She asked. “Technically, it was my personal assistant. He did it on my behalf though.” I said. “But why?” “Because I find you interesting, and I know you’d be perfect for the job.” I said. The moment I said the word job, I saw something changed in her eyes, but then she sighed and said. “I’ll think about it.” Well, that was better than a flat out no. I was going to get this woman, one way or the other, even if I had to pretend it was just because of my parents’ want!
