Chapter 6Perseus awoke alone the next morning. He hadn’t expected Ganymede to be there, but still, it made him sad to find him gone. He was haunted by the immortal youth’s story, and hoped if he was fated to survive his battle with Medusa that perhaps he could do something to aid him. To his surprised amusement, he saw Ganymede had left him a gift to remember him by: the small bottle of oil he wore around his neck. And beside the bottle, Ganymede had written in the sand: “You never know.” Perseus chuckled and hung the bottle around his neck. It would seem the man who no longer felt emotions was not without a sense of humor, at least. He realized he was hungry, for the last time he had eaten was the morning before.
