CHAPTER 22. My face turned pale as I blinked rapidly, trying to fully grasp the significance of what Bruce had sent me. Who was the woman in the news? Did someone want me to take on the case? My mind raced with questions, and I didn't bother checking other messages or calls on my phone. Instead, I hastily dropped both devices into my bag and swiftly made my way out of the house. I hurried to my car and settled into the driver's seat before speeding off, frustration mounting as I realized I was already running late. I stole a quick glance at my watch, and it read eleven o'clock. Damn it! I gritted my teeth in disappointment. Being late was unlike me; I prided myself on being punctual. But at least my tardiness was justifiable, very justifiable considering the shocking news I had received.
