Ten minutes later, we were seated in my office. I served him some juice; I didn't bother with alcohol, as I knew he doesn't take even a sip of it. For the whole [time], neither of us had talked to each other. There was an awkward silence hanging over the room, and it made me even more nervous. I could feel my heart racing and pounding against my chest like a wild animal. I avoided making eye contact with him, my eyes darting around the whole room. What would he say? Who sent him here? Those questions lingered on my mind; I couldn't wait for him to finish drinking so he could tell me his reason for coming here.
