It was a dry day, as dry as the sands of the desert. Oh! I forgot to mention I was in an actual desert, walking tirelessly and aimlessly, it's been hours and I am still on no right path to my destination.
My throat is beginning to get dry and I just took the last drop of water in my skin bottle. Legs wobble like that of a new born just learning to walk. Thighs shaking you probably think I just had a ground shaking o****m.
I look around and it just brown sand and a heap of sand forming an hill. "When will this end"? a voice at the back of my mind asked.
Suddenly I see an hut, right in the middle of the desert. I wondered if I haven't passed that particular route during my soujorn. Whether or not it is safe, I shall check it out?
" Thou hath tired" came the other voice, I nodded in affirmation like I could see the person speaking right in front of me. Onwards I matched towards the hut, ask for water, I shall.
Right I was in the front of the hut, just when I thought it was still far away. I knocked on the door and I expected a quick reply. Knocked once, knocked twice, I did, knocked thrice, it became a rhythm and on and on I knocked like a lunatic seeking desperately to be released.
On and on I went until my knuckles protested, I pushed the door slightly and off it came a jar. I peeped in and muttered an hello just for courtesy. There came the echoing sound of the wilderness.I closed the door right behind me.
I walked in carefully for I do not want to get hit in the head by a scared occupant who probably thinks I am a thief. There I was right in the middle, no one came out, it was just me. Finally I realized, it was an abandoned hut right in the middle of the desert.
I pranced around like I was waiting for a prey, gently quietly, like I do not want to awaken a baby. Confidence I gained, the farther I walked in. " No one is here", the voices in my head agreed.
My itchy throat reminded me of my thirst for water. I thirst so I shall drink. Look for water I must. I finally found a jar right at the back of the kitchen, I lifted the lid like I was expecting a huge snake to coil out. I peeped right in with the lid off and there it was, clean water peeping back.
I couldn't curtail my joy, it felt like I just received the best gift in the world. I dipped my hand right in, while my mouth was close to the jar. I sipped and sipped, another mortal man would have thought it was a jar of fine wine.
I drank till I was satisfied, then I closed the lid just so dirt wouldn't contaminate my precious water.Water is gold in the middle of the desert.
I walked around a little bit further, I saw a bed, it frame looked like it was sculptured by a grand designer, it is so brownish, it looked like it was molded by the sands of the desert.
I sat right in and it creaked a little, I lifted my wait like It would a cause a great damage to it. I just wanted to sleep peacefully after walking for hours right in the middle of nowhere.
I must have slept off for the sounds of multiple feet woke me from my slumber. I heard hushed voices, it must be the owner of the house I reasoned.
I moved out of bed as silently as I could, you probably would hear a pin drop right in the middle of it. I moved to the back of the kitchen door where I thought I would be safe and waited patiently for the door to open.
The door was thrown open, I think they broke the door. I peeped right from the back of the kitchen door, there they stood, mighty men, fierce and strong with a bow and an arrow. They looked like they were going to kill.
Evidently, this weren't the house owners, they looked like they were out to steal and m**m, but what is there to steal in this small hut.
The first spoke, yet I could not understand, he nodded in the direction of the kitchen door. I blamed Nimrod over and over again in my mind, just what is this confusion?
The second man broke in, he looked like a giant, I fell flat with the door he broke after all I was right behind the kitchen door. He lifted me just with one bare hand and out he went with me like I was a little piece of wood.
He dropped me right in front of the bigger one, laughed again and again they did, and there they continued with the foreign tongue.
" Hello, can I talk please"? I muffled. Laughed again they did. I think he signaled with his eyes for out the other went and in he came again with a small jar.
The contents of the jar must be blood for it tasted like blood after it was forced into my mouth, they laughed again like I was just an animal being used for a game.
My pain was a cause for their joy, I tried so hard to crawl out even though I had a huge feet right on top of my chest. It felt like I had the whole world right on my chest. It reminded me of Atlas who carried the whole world on his shoulders. I was the Atlas of the desert.
I whimpered and begged with tears in my eyes, I begged and begged, my life depended on it. Oh my my! I choked on my own spit, I knew death of close by.
I received a slap that painted a picture of stars, I must be in a galaxy. I was spitted upon over and over. I was dragged from the north to the south.
East and West received a taste of my blood.
The brown sand turned crimson the more I was dragged, it looked like I had an unending blood flow.
I must be gasping for death already, for suddenly they stopped, they looked me dead in the eyes and out came a silver knife, it glittered right in the middle of the desert.
He raised it high right into the sky and there it came plunging right into my heart, the middle of it.
I screamed so loud with the last bit of the strength in me and there I was right in the middle of my bed all covered in blood.
I thought it was my own blood, my heart was at a double beat rhythm. So loud I could hear it beat.
Right in the middle of the bed was Jane, all soaked too with a silver knife plunged in her heart, while she struggled so hard to breath.
My hands were covered in blood and just when she was about to take the last breath, a tear rolled down her left eye, and she muttered "Why"?
I shook my head like it was all a dream, it all started coming back, for Jane came over to spend the night, so why was she covered in blood?
I questioned over and over with all the voices in my head saying " It wasn't me".
