“We don’t use this breaker on our jobs,” he confirmed with me. “And the wires were incorrectly connected.” I looked at Curtis, confused.
“What do you mean?” I asked him. He took the charred breaker from me, and then pulled out the breaker they used.
“This is a Ballard breaker,” he explained to me, shaking the charred breaker. “They are the cheapest and worst breakers out there. They have more complaints about homes catching fire than any other breaker.” He set the charred breaker down and showed me the other breaker. “This is a Columbus breaker. Better quality, and next to nothing with complaints. My dad and I have been using these for years. We both trusted these and never had to replace this brand for faulty breakers.
