THE PERFUME ON HIS JACKET

217 Words
Episode 4 The night I found the perfume on Adrian’s jacket, my world tilted. It was faint at first, a soft whisper of jasmine clinging to the fabric, but it was unmistakably not mine. I held the jacket close, inhaling again, desperate for a lie that would make my heart stop racing. But hope was cruel. The scent was foreign, intimate, and undeniable. I waited for him to come home, the minutes stretching into hours. When he finally walked through the door, his familiar smile nearly made me falter. For a fleeting moment, I wanted to believe nothing had changed. But the jacket in my hands was proof that everything had. “Who is she?” I asked, my voice barely a whisper, trembling with anger and disbelief. Adrian froze, guilt flashing in his eyes before he could form words. “Elena I didn’t mean for you to find out this way,” he said, voice breaking. “You promised me forever,” I whispered, my chest burning with betrayal. “And yet here I am, holding proof that your promises were nothing but words.” He reached for me, but I pulled back. “Don’t. Don’t touch me,” I said firmly, the pain sharp in my chest. That night, love became fragile, and trust shattered.
