Finally after weeks of no information, they have a lead on the Ivanof siblings. It looks like they are using the Kremlin Tunnels to stay hidden and to live in. It is a labyrinth down there. They could be anywhere and doing anything. What if his house isn’t the only one targeted? What if she is getting loyalty from other men from other families?

This just got even more complicated. There are many different ways in and out of those tunnels. There is nothing they can do about putting men on the entry ways to keep an eye on them. It will have to be something he talks to both Demitri and Maksim about. Can they rig electrical trip wires? Sencis motion so they give an alert but not one the people can hear?

The hitman finally came back to the apartment a week ago. He was a simple accountant, or that is what he told his family anyway. Once he made it back and saw the damage to his door, he went in and examined what was messed with. Bad idea on his part. Mikhail’s people went in after him, wearing masks and dragged him out.

They left him in the coffin room for days. They poured many things down the tube to mess with him. Nothing they sent down was deadly though. No it was torture and mental exhaustion they wanted from him. No one messes with his baby sister and expects to get away with it. No, they had to show him and others after him, what happens when you threaten the only daughter of Sokolov.

After they got him out of the coffin he was a shell of himself. Getting information out of him was easy after that. He spilled everything he knew about the contract, who made it and why. Why he took the assignment even though Elana is a Sokolov. He spilled his guts out, figuratively speaking. Hoping Mikhail would spare him and let him go free. Since his family would go looking for him, and they needed visual proof to others, they left his body somewhere noticeable.

Mikhail went through each man on his sisters' protection himself after Denis was finished with them. He wanted to make sure his sister was well protected when she went back to school. There was only one traitor in her security that was dealt with quickly. The others in her protection stood aside and watched as Mikhail himself dealt with him. It wasn’t pretty or nice. They didn’t leave anything for the guy's family to bury. Though they were told what happened while they were questioned. Like Andrei’s family were questioned. They, like Andrei’s family, knew nothing about betrayal or what the traitor did. So they stayed on with the family.

Now those who were left knew to not mess with Elana or her safety. They went with her when she went back to school. Mikhail and Demitri were happy with the protection detail that was left. They know if anything happens, their sister will be safe. Those men won’t let her get hurt. She isn’t an i***t, she knows that one of her guys wasn’t loyal. That the men who were left were going to protect her with their life. She may not know what her brothers did, but knows she is safe now.

Mikhail was now back in the states to see the progress on his new business adventures. Everything in Seattle was on track. Soon he will be able to open doors for his clubs soon. He has a few people who will discreetly advertise his new building and people who will handle the office side of it. Some people have volunteered to be guards during business hours. They are adventurous themselves when in the bedroom. So the subs who come would feel safe while they play. These men will know if a sub is feeling scared or hurt by body language and how they sound.

He was feeling very proud of the work being done. His legit business is also on track with setting things up and hiring people. Now that he has seen his ideas and work in Seattle paying off and being on track, it is time to pay a visit to New York. He hasn’t been back since walking out on James and his father. He didn’t mean to extend his work in Russia too much. However, with the Ivanof family coming back from the dead, he didn’t have any choice in the matter. His focus needed to be in Russia.

He made plans for his flight to New York and meet up with James. The woman the Ivanof family were angry with is dead, however, the Robingtons could still be in danger. They should be on alert too.

He talked to his people about getting his plane ready to head to New York. While he waited for them to get ready, he thought about Carol and what she could be doing at this moment. It is the beginning of October now. Is she getting ready for winter? From what he understands, Alaska isn’t too far off from Russia concerning winter.

He wonders where in Alaska she ran off to. Is it a city, a small town or one of the places too small to be on a map? Are her people caring for her during the winter months? He understands her need to be back home in her roots, but why couldn’t she stay in Seattle with the McKenna’s? Wherever she is, he hopes she is warm and safe. The stuff going on with the rival family, he is glad they only met up a few times and no one knows of his growing obsession with this woman.

His pilot got his attention and told him that the plane is ready and he can board now. He sat at a seat with a table so he could get some work done. So much paperwork, at this rate, he should get an assistant. At least the legit business side. The mafia side, he doesn’t trust someone to keep quiet about everything going on. No, he just has a private meeting with his brother and they decide what is going to happen. There are the occasional meeting and business deal with a different family not Russian. However, those are only special occasions and not often done. All the families like to keep business within the family or national. It is only when special projects happen, they collaborate.

Each major family specializes in something. One family is the goto assassins all over the world. A different family is known for new and ‘creative’ ways to consume drugs. Don’t get him wrong, most families have drug dealing going on in the lower ranks that get them in the door with the lower level people who quickly rise in rank and doing something else. However, that family comes up with different drugs or different methods. You get the idea. He learned there is a family who works specifically with trafficking. But it isn’t like taking someone off the street and selling them. No, this family, whoever they are, are in the business of new beginnings. Apparently lower rank people have a symbol or saying for fleeing people. The higher ups will help with paperwork, changing names and whatever else these people looking for new starts need. Then the family has a loyal person to the cause once they have successfully moved on and the old people can’t find them.

They end up being look outs, safe places and contact for rehoming. They are willing to help clean up the streets and make the poorer areas safe to be in. There are few opportunities in the poorer areas to make money, however this new family is making it work. Teaching the hood people skills, rehab if needed and giving the youth a reality check about the dark things gang members want them involved in.

Whatever family is out there that is making a difference is putting a dent in recruitment and their bottom line with customers. However, the other families are impressed with them. The family still does some illegal things. Just not drugs and harming the old and down on their luck. Apparently a new weapon has made itself known on the streets that a lot of people are buying up. Families are now safe. People who owed money to the families are coming on and paying off debts, they aren’t the ones with the cash though. These people come in with a guarded currier who informs them they owe nothing anymore.

The new family has earned a spot with the other big and bad families who have been running things for generations. However, everyone knows them as “the Amerians” with no name or no face. Someone else always goes and does the business when needed. Mikhail is interested in learning of the new family and who is running it all. They have messed with every other major family's bottom line. They are new, but well respected for the changes in the ranks. They don’t mess with a rival's family, just the person who is involved. Like a true mafia family. Hell no one who went missing is messing with the families. They get past multiple security measures and leave a note saying their loved one is gone, but the rest of the family is safe.

There are no prints, dna or anything left with any of the notes. These people got past electronics, people, even the animals. No one can figure out how they're getting in or out of these areas but are impressed. All the major families want to have a face to face meeting with the new family and create a contract or merge families.

Well, now that he is moving to other areas of making money, the drugs and new recruits aren’t a big loss. No, his big worry right now is the old rival family who sprung up from the dead to haunt him. Why couldn’t they let things go and accept that they failed? Going after a family member who isn’t a part of the business is unacceptable and no family will tolerate it. If they left Elana out of all of it, whatever happens and who gets the throne, the other families both in Russia and nationals would have accepted it.

All this thinking bogged him down. He didn’t read much of the paperwork or sign much. So he gave up and drank his coffee. Demitri has already informed the Robingtons that he is flying to them and needs everyone present for an update about his end of things. He will have to update James about a new pickup spot for the clean things he is shipping out.

Seeing the Robingtons again isn’t something he particularly wants to do. However this is business and this concerns their family as much as his own. The Ivanof siblings might try to recruit people in New York to keep track of them and take them all out one by one. Yes the woman who angered them is recently dead, yes it is public knowledge. However, Mikhail doesn’t think these siblings will care. If he is right about one or both having the same thing as dear old pops. Then extra damage will warn other people from messing with them.

The Robingtons were waiting for him once he got off the plane. He looked at them all and went to his own vehicle and told them to find a safe, private area for a serious talk. There is news from Russia that includes them. This made James tense a little. If Demitri called and gave them such a short notice about Mikhail showing up insisting on a meeting with everyone. Then it has to be a safe and private area for the talk… No, whatever Mikhail came all the way from Russia for isn’t something good. James thought about the words his grandma wrote about. He hopes she is wrong and that her warnings were all wrong.
