Reveal & News

Carol enjoyed her native food, the company of her dog team, and her crafts as September continued. She even found a few spots for high bush cranberries. It’ll give her enough berries for jellies or jams. She prefers low bush for baking and such. She found a few patches for that too. Once the first frost hits, she’ll be able to pick those. After the first frost comes, bears will go into hibernation. Soon that encounter will be a memory she’ll smile at. She sat down at the table to write her letters to her support system. She has a few people to keep in contact with. Her brothers who don’t stay in the village told her to write and her letters will reach them. Ray keeps her updated on her ex’s family and if they truly gave up on looking for her. Ray also tells her about the Russian ‘hottie’ that wants her. Which makes Carol roll her eyes. Seriously, Mikhail wouldn’t want her, especially with another man's baby growing inside her. Well Carol also had to write updates about the pregnancy and send data off to her doctor. She has a lot of data for the doctor and hopes to have an update from her from her last batch. If the baby was Francis or Rose, or if she had managed to take a picture of everything. Anticipation was killing her. Then there was the dilemma of telling her brothers who were busy else were and Precious. It isn’t like she will have a gender reveal or a normal baby shower. While spending her days gathering as much as she can before winter, her chores around the camp and everything else, the days slowly went by. However, she was content. She was excited for the baby and hearing news. Her brother and a few other villagers visited as much as they could before the river froze over. It would be a little while before it was safe to travel by snow machine. She shared her news with everyone who came to visit and check in. They did the same with any news they could share. Then one day her dogs showed signs of hearing something outside, which made her stop and listen as well. A boat motor was climbing in the noise. With how late the season was, she was surprised anyone was still out on the boat. They must want to check on her before she is snowed in for a few months. She got up from the rocker and stretched. She put on a good jacket that wouldn’t make her sweat but still keep the chill in the air away. She went out to the boat park to see who was coming. With the people on the boat dressed even warmer, it was hard to tell who was coming up the river. But her brother waving and someone else driving, she knew one person if not both. So she waved back and waited for them to get closer. This time there were no moose hooves in the front. However there were a few bags and boxes, which made her a little confused. So she waited for them to get closer. When she saw the driver she was pleasantly surprised to see Phillip in the boat. So two of her brothers were here. From the looks of it, might even stay a day or two with her. She was so excited for this she started to bounce in place with excitement. She honestly missed her brothers and how close they all used to be. Sure life and everything made them distant. However, they are truly trying to make things better. That is what counts. All four of them are trying to do and be better. Maybe the next generation, that is fast approaching, will be better. While she was lost in her daydreams, she gave a smile and put a hand on her slowly growing baby belly. Everyone has been doing a good job of using her new name. They may know her birth name, but wish to keep the baby and her safe. Everyone agreed to rename her Sesi. The villagers have even started referring to her as Sesi. It has been nice knowing these people care. The men climbing out of the boat with bags and boxes dropped their stuff off at the cabin and gave her a hug. As they got their heavy coats, hats and mitts off, they started talking. “Baby girl, you look great, being home has done you some good it seems. How are you doing?” Phillip hasn’t seen his sister since the night before she traveled back to the village. He knew the village gave her a true native ‘welcome home’ tribute. Junior told him she accepted the native blessings and how almost everyone came to the airstrip to dance and sing. Carol smiled, sat in her rocker and replied, “I am lonely sometimes, but I am enjoying my time out here. The dogs are doing a great job keeping wildlife off property. I am sure our brother here has kept you and Travis informed of things going on.” Junior grinned saucily with her and continued getting out of the heavy gear. Now that it is getting colder at night, Carol has been making sure that the wood/cook stove has been lit every night. (One of those old stoves from the 1900’s it is a cook stove but uses wood instead of gas or propane.) It is what she uses to cook with and keep warm. A kettle is keeping water warm for tea or hot chocolate. “Boys, would you like a cup of coffee to help warm up? The drive up here must have kicked you hard.” She was going to get up when both men stopped her and insisted they could get their own drinks. She smiled as they worked as a team to make a little semi circle so they could all look at each other but enjoy the fire too. Phillip was warming his fingers around a cup of coffee when he suddenly remembered to grab his sister some stuff. He put the cup down, went over to one of his bags and pulled out a good stack of mail. Then as he was sitting down again, he handed her the thick stack. She was excited to see so many envelopes. However the very top one stuck out. It was a letter from her doctor. She looked up to them both and smiled real big. She turned the envelope over and started tearing into it.Her hands were slightly shaking as she fumbled with the paper and envelope. When she finally pulled out the envelope, she read quietly to see if it was gender results or results of tests. The further she read the happier she became. The baby and her are healthy. The doctor is impressed with the equipment Precious sent with her and is confident so long as she sends samples and data results through the mail, she will have a smooth and healthy pregnancy. When Carol looked up to her brothers who weren’t paying attention to their cups or the dogs, but eagerly looking to her for gender results. The dogs could tell the change in atmosphere. However, they could tell it wasn’t a bad change. So they didn’t get all riled up. “Uncle Phillip and Uncle Junior, please say hello to Rose Enni Kàltsa." The men were overjoyed to have yet another girl in the family. They started talking about the different things they will teach this new baby and how spoiled she would be. Carol took her cup of tea and shook her head at her brothers. But, she was happy. This means that the Robington family may not want her if her true birth were to be discovered. The guys stopped talking about little Rose and looked at Carol, they grew tense for a minute. Which put her on alert. “What?” They looked at each other, then Phillip started talking. “Mom called. She wants to speak to you. We told her no. She didn’t earn it.” This made Carol stop rocking and look into space. Did she want contact with her mother? What could she possibly want after almost making her drink alcohol shortly after learning of being a grandma? Could the mother/daughter relationship ever be salvaged? She thought of her own daughter growing in her belly and put herself in Jessica’s shoes. Could she try and deceive her daughter into alcohol while pregnant? No, Carol can’t see the benefit of doing that to her little Rose. If for whatever reason, they lose contact, would she want to get back in her good books? Yes, she couldn’t imagine not being in Rose's life. Would she do anything to salvage the bond a mother and daughter have? Yes, she wouldn’t push her daughter away. However, she and her mother don’t have the normal mother/daughter relationship. They never have. Jessica has shown time and time again that Carol means nothing to her. If Jessica had her way, Carol would have been raised away from the boys and away from her. “Guys, I need time. Mom and I never had a true parent/child bond. She always pushed me away. To make herself look better she pretended to care to keep people from asking questions. If she showed her true colors to other people she would have lost you guys too. No offense Junior, but think back. Am I wrong?” While Carol was talking, Junior's face became annoyed and a little red. However, Carol didn’t let him get angry on their mom’s behalf. She called him out and made him think of their childhood. He let out a big breath and looked regretful. No, he can’t refuse her claim. What she said was accurate. Carol was left alone unless chores needed done. Their mom didn’t care. However, the guys didn’t have much chores and got away with a lot. If they did chores badly, their mom put it on Carol to fix and finish. While in front of others, she was a caring mother to all of them.
