“Open the cell,” Prince Morloch ordered, his voice a low command that made the air itself seem heavier. The demon knight standing guard hesitated, knuckles white around his keys. He could already feel the king’s wrath if he released them, yet the prince’s icy stare sent a chill straight through his armor. Caught between fear of the king and fear of the prince, he faltered. “Are you ignoring my order?” Morloch’s eyes narrowed, cold and sharp. The knight jumped as though stabbed. “N-No, Your Highness!” He fumbled the keys and hastily unlocked the heavy door. The iron bars screeched open.
