Evan I could feel Helaine’s eyes linger on me as I moved toward the makeshift kitchen, where I’d already prepared her snack. Leaning against the fridge, I took in a deep breath, regaining my composure. My willpower and self-control was something I took pride in, a skill I’d honed over decades of living with my condition. I needed to always be in control of myself, or I could lose everything all over again.
