Chapter Twenty-Six

316 Words
“Hey, how are you two doing?” Mom asked as I approached the kitchen. I shook my head and grabbed a glass of juice she just made. “Where is she?” I turned. She didn’t follow. I rolled my eyes and grabbed a sandwich. I bit them in anger. I didn’t want to be angry today but she, herself, made me explode. I didn’t know if she was purposely breaking her voice or what? I don’t get it. I sounded unnatural and all. “Honey, don’t tell me you left the girl alone in your room. You know girls, we get awkward when we stay inside a man’s room—” “We were in the studio mom.” I cut her and she looked ashamed. “Oh.” I grabbed a glass and a plate of sandwich. I marched my way out of the kitchen and went back to the studio. “Hey, I told you—” I stopped when I heard her singing inside the recording room. I tiptoed my way to my chair and landed her food down the free space of my table quietly. I merely listened to her voice. Right now, I couldn’t hear how bad her voice was but how determined she was. The music played over and over. Sometimes, she’d even curse because she got the wrong note, she said the wrong lyrics. I stood from my seat and stepped out of the studio. I closed the door and looked up. Why did I even agree to this? I shook my head. What’s done is done. It’s not like I can bring back everything I said. All I have to do now is finish what I started and everything will be back to normal.
