Chapter Five

1582 Words
DURING lunch break, I was with Belle. Armin said to keep her in touch since he can't be with me all the time or people will think of the wrong way. I also learned that Ysabelle was one of the popular girls in the school. She was a beauty queen. She had the looks and the brain for that matter. I envy her. Can you imagine? She can have any guy she wants. I even met her sister which kind of reminded me of Jaimee. I haven't seen her since the day I moved in the apartment and I'm sure she already misses me and Min. I will visit some other day. I promised her. After lunch, I went directly to my shift and at the strike of one thirty, I asked my boss if I could leave early for my class. I was late. Luckily, Mr. Hugh was kind enough to let me slide every time I get late during his class which was by the way my favorite subject, English. I was about to leave but my phone vibrated. I reached it out and saw a message from my annoying best friend.   Meeting later. U better come or Jarri will kick u out ;D   I arched a brow and proceeded to my next class. Apparently, Math is not really my thing. I don't even get why we still need to tackle these things in a music school. It was frustrating for that matter. On my way out of class when it finished, a voice called my name. "Julia!" I turned my head to see who was yelling my name but every time I turn, I see no one but a bunch of students leaving their classes. I looked at my watch. 2:31. Perfect. "Julia!" I turned my head once again and saw no one. Again. I frowned. What the heck was that? I tried to walk faster but then my shoulders were held back. My eyes widened when it turned me to face this human. When I opened my eyes, it was Sean breathing heavily. "Sean?" I uttered and he looked at me. He smiled. "Are you deaf?" I shook my head. "No." "Then why didn't you hear me calling your name? Ayeee. I got so tired." He sighed wiping his perspiration. "I did hear you but I didn't see you. Sorry." I looked down and he tapped my shoulder. I looked up to him and he was still smiling. "It's okay. Are you going to the meeting?" He asked and I bobbed my head. "Armin messaged me." "Oh. Minnie." We started walking and he looked like a kid. He looked so young, and yeah, he is young but he looks and acts way younger than his young age. "What exactly is your relationship with each other?" "Hm." I looked up trying to find the right answer. "To be honest, we only knew each other a year ago. Then we became really close. He's not even a childhood friend or anything but he was nice to me so I was nice to him as well." "So you do talk. I thought you would just answer obvious answers." I turned to him with a laugh. "Obvious answers?” Obvious answers. “Like what?" I asked and his lips formed a pout "Like, ‘yes’, ‘no’, ‘nothing’, ‘yeah’, ‘not really’. Those type of obvious answers." He replied and I laughed again. He turned to me then smiled. "Maybe sometimes. When I don't feel comfortable with that person I’m with." "O—" My heart jumped a little hearing his high pitched exclaim. I touched my chest settling my heart down. "So you feel comfortable around me?" I looked at him up and down and nodded after. "You're not really that far different from Min. You’re much bubblier." "What?" He exclaimed. "I am different. Far different from him. I'm a dancer. He's a rapper. I’m fair, he’s tanned." I chuckled. Right. He's never good in dancing. He tries so hard. "Say, Sean, do you perhaps know someone who's good in making songs?" "You mean, like a producer or something?" He double asked and I nodded in reply. “Of course! Why?” I looked away. Someday I'll make my own song and I will sing to you. I'll have my own concert like Taylor Swift and have my face published like the books you always read, daddy. I heaved a deep sigh. "Let's just say I need to keep a promise." “Jared.” He nodded. "Jared’s really good in making songs. He's the best producer in our school." Jared? That scary, terror small creature— I think it's too harsh to call him that. Maybe 'midget' would sound less disrespectful. "He is?" "In fact, he's the only person you can rely on when it comes to producing music. Some do make songs but just lyrics and rearrangements. He does most of the producing things." "He does?" I was dumbfounded. If he was the only one can produce, that means he's my only option. That would be life risking. "Why?" He asked again and I sighed. "Nothing." "By the way, you were really cool yesterday. You sound a lot like me when I first entered the club." He winked and I laughed. "I don't think Jared liked it. What if he kicks me out of the club?" I turned to him and he shook his head. "No, he won't. Not unless the whole board decides on that. Besides, Sed really likes you. So do I. We’d disagree in eliminating you." I smiled. "Really?" He nodded. “Yep. Yep.” I guess it's not too bad to try and approach him.   Sean and I reached their cudgel building and we both entered the building. It was indeed different from the building I entered yesterday. This was more unorganized and messy. The typical party house type. We both went down the staircase that had the same structure as what they had in the other building. Sean opened the door to the auditorium room for me and I thanked him for that. "Sean," I looked up hearing his name being called out through the speaker and it was Jared. How come he speaks so tall and mighty in contrast with his height? Not trying to offend or anything. "You're late." Sean gestured me to sit over the crowd and I nodded taking a vacant seat. My eyes met Armin’s and he stuck his tongue out. Likewise, I did the same and he turned his head back to the front. "As I was saying—" Jared said eyeing me for about seconds, then looked away. "—the board of music club's still vacant for the position of Writer. But first, I want to introduce the board to everyone." The boys stood and went on the stage. Armin, included. "President." Jared continued and I observed him. He was really small. Of course, he was still taller than I am but if ever he stands next to Armin, he'll look really small. "Vice President, Sean." My eyes widened. He was the vice president? How did I not know that? How did I not expect that? Of course he was. He was a leader of a different unit after all. "Secretary, June, Spencer and Alder. Treasurer, William. Public Information Officer, Mike, Armin, and Charlie. Rapeuture, Kevin. Layout artist, Sed, Karen and Hiro. Sometimes, all of us but they propose first before we recreate. Editor, Joshua. Staff Crew, Denisse, Ella, Paul, Olly, Kris and Jaeho." Joshua. It was the guy I was with yesterday. So that was his name. He looks super nice and acts kind as well. "Now, is there anyone who wants to be a part of the board and be the writer? A writer organizes articles for the school paper to be sent to the office. A writer creates news, observes the club in everything we do. Takes note. Makes the set and schedule for showcases of the club." No one raised their hands. Like me, maybe they were too terrified and scared of how cold the president announced the sudden addition of their board. I looked at Armin and he was looking back. He was giving me his do-it! look but I shook my head ‘no’ and looked away. My eyes met Joshua’s and he lightly smiled then averting his attention back to the president. This could be the one and only opportunity God gave me. The only way I could approach Jared is to be a part of their board and that's about to happen in three. . . Two. . . One. . . I slowly raised my hand and looked down. "Stand up." He said. “You are?” Whispers filled the auditorium room as I stood thick skinned. They were probably thinking how much courage I carried for this position after the soulful debate with the president during the presentation. I lifted up my face and what welcomed me was Jared’s scary face. He was ice cold that made me frozen for about three seconds. I looked away and saw Soon Young's bright smile. "Ms. Burton. If I’m not mistaken." he said and I looked back at Jared. "I’ll do it.”
