DEREK'S POV
"Mother?" I called out in disbelief, wondering where she had hidden herself in the hall. I fixed my gaze on the security man, eyeing him. I felt like he was worth no more than a piece of trash as I ran to where my mother was.
"What happened in here, mom? We heard a gunshot from in here and we decided to come check it out."
Her eyes bulged as she tried to process my words. "Is that why you have all gathered here? You guys worry just too much. You've got nothing to be scared of. Your aunt and I were only having a healthy discussion," she said, a bright smile hanging around her lips. I was confused because it didn't seem like it. A healthy discussion and then a gunshot? It just didn't relate.
