LILA The words hung between us, dense and inescapable. "I'm a werewolf," Callum had said. I stared at him, my mind struggling to catch up. My breath snagged in my throat, and I took a step back without thinking. This couldn't be real. But the look in his eyes told me otherwise—he was telling the truth, no matter how impossible it sounded. My heart hammered against my ribs, fear and disbelief tangling with confusion. "A werewolf?" I repeated. The word felt strange in my mouth, like something borrowed from fiction. "Yeah," he said, nodding slowly. "A man wolf. A werewolf. Whatever makes you comfortable." Comfortable?
