CHAPTER 6
“Welcome back, sir and madam!”
“Welcome home!”
“Welcome, young master!”
The servants quickly step forward as the Blackwood family arrived.
Mr. Blackwood gave a brief nod.
“Thank you.”
“Take the luggage inside.”
“Yes, sir.”
Everything happened quickly.
Within minutes, the house was quiet again.
Mr. Blackwood entered the sitting room and took his seat.
He had barely settled down when footsteps approached.
“Sir.”
Michael entered and bowed.
“Finally, you're back. Welcome back, sir.”
Mr. Blackwood looked at him.
“Michael.”
“I have some reports for you.”
“Go ahead.”
Michael remained standing.
“The company is stable. Operations have continued normally.”
He paused.
“But Mr. Guo has been making frequent visits.”
Mr. Blackwood's expression changed slightly.
“He has been asking about your whereabouts. He also asked about the young master.”
Michael continued.
“Yesterday, I was followed from the company to my residence. I believe they were trying to determine whether I was coming to meet you.”
Mr. Blackwood gave a short nod.
“Keep watching him.”
“Yes, sir.”
Michael took out his phone.
“There is also a development from the investigation.”
Mr. Blackwood looked at him.
“Yesterday, I attended a party at the Guo mansion.”
“I located someone we've been searching for.”
Mr. Blackwood's eyes narrowed.
“Who?”
Michael looked directly at him.
“Madam Michelle.”
Mr. Blackwood immediately sat upright.
“Where?”
“At the Guo mansion.”
Michael's voice remained professional.
“I personally confirmed her identity.”
“She is alive.”
Outside the sitting room, footsteps suddenly stopped.
Ethan had been passing through the hallway.
The moment he heard the name Michelle, he stopped.
He didn't intend to listen.
But then Michael's next words reached him.
“She is currently working as a maid inside the Guo mansion.”
Ethan's eyes widened.
Mom?
He moved closer to the door.
Inside, Michael continued.
“She is not being treated well.”
Ethan's hand slowly tightened.
Michael added,
“I couldn't make a move. The mansion was heavily guarded.”
Ethan couldn't stand there anymore.
He pushed the door open.
“Did you just say my mother is at the Guo mansion?”
Mr. Blackwood turned.
Michael immediately stood straight.
“Welcome, young master.”
Ethan ignored the greeting.
“My mother.”
His eyes were fixed on Michael.
“She's there?”
“Yes.”
“Alive?”
“Yes.”
Ethan took another step.
“You saw her yourself?”
“I did.”
For a second, Ethan said nothing.
Then—
“Why didn't you bring her out?”
Michael answered immediately.
“The opportunity wasn't safe.”
“Why?”
“The Guo mansion is heavily guarded.”
“I couldn't reach Madam Michelle without exposing myself.”
Ethan's jaw tightened.
“You left her there?”
“I had no choice.”
Michael's tone remained calm.
“If I had acted recklessly, I would have exposed the investigation, and Mr. Guo would have known that we were watching him.”
Ethan turned to his grandfather.
“Grandpa.”
Mr. Blackwood stood.
“We're going to get her.”
“When?”
“First, we need a strategy.”
Michael nodded.
“There is an opportunity tonight.”
Mr. Blackwood looked at him.
Michael continued.
“There is a gala tonight.”
“An auction will be held there.”
“All the elite families in Chunkai City will attend.”
Ethan's eyes narrowed.
“The Guo family?”
“Yes.”
Michael looked at him.
“They will be there.”
Ethan stared at him for a moment.
Then a smile slowly appeared on his face.
“Good.”
Mr. Blackwood looked at him.
Ethan's voice became firm.
“That means the Guo's gonna be there.”
He turned toward Michael.
“Let's strike then.”
Michael remained silent.
Mr. Blackwood's eyes narrowed as he understood what Ethan meant.
Tonight wasn't going to be a normal auction.
They were going there for one reason.
Michelle.
And the moment they entered that gala...
the Blackwood family's return to Chunkai City would no longer remain a secret.
