Chapter 5 Ethan stood up and looked at his grandfather. “My memory is a bit clear now.” Mr. Blackwood looked at him carefully. Ethan continued. “Let's go back to Chunkai City.” Madam Sinclair nodded. Ethan's expression became firm. “We need to get our plan together.” He clenched his fist. “I, Ethan, won't let whoever hurt my parents go free.” His voice was filled with anger. “He is going to pay for what he did.” Ethan's anger grew. “I'll make sure he suffers for everything he did to my parents. I'll torture him and bury him in pain!” “Ethan, calm down.” Mr. Blackwood stepped forward. “We're going to investigate first.” Ethan looked at him. “We will find the evidence, and when we have everything we need, we will attack.” Mr. Blackwood's expression was serious. “Whatever reason that person had for doing what he did, he must answer to us.” Ethan took a deep breath. “Alright, Grandpa.” Mr. Blackwood nodded. “We'll return to Chunkai City.” --- THE GUO MANSION Meanwhile, at the Guo mansion, a grand party was taking place. The mansion was filled with wealthy guests, music, laughter, and servants moving around with trays of food and drinks. Among the servants was Michelle. She wore a simple maid's uniform as she quietly carried out her duties. One of the female guests suddenly pointed toward the floor. “Hey, you wretched brat!” Michelle stopped. “Come and clean this dirt.” “Yes, ma'am.” Michelle quickly placed the tray down and bent down to clean the floor. The moment she bent down— SPLASH! A glass of juice was poured over her. The guests around them burst into laughter. Michelle froze. Juice ran down her hair and soaked her clothes. She slowly raised her head. The woman who had poured the juice laughed. “Look at you!” Michelle lowered her head again. She didn't say anything. She simply tried to clean herself. Then the woman stepped forward and stamped on Michelle's hand. “Ahhh!” Michelle cried out in pain. She quickly pulled her hand away. The guests laughed even harder. One of them shook her head. “Oh, you poor thing.” Another guest laughed. “You should be glad she's being nice to you.” Michelle's eyes filled with tears. She remained silent. Then— A cold voice came from behind them. “Touch her one more time and die.” The laughter immediately stopped. Everyone turned toward the entrance. Jim Guo had arrived. He is the first son of the Guo family and one of the most well-known bachelors in Chunkai City. He is handsome, tall, and well-built. But what made him famous wasn't just his appearance. Jim was known for being cold and straightforward. He rarely spoke to anyone unless necessary. And he certainly wasn't known for defending servants. Yet now, he was standing there with a cold expression on his face. The entire room went silent. The woman who had stepped on Michelle's hand slowly looked at him. “Mr. Jim...” Jim stared at her. “Did you not hear me?” She swallowed. “I...” “Touch her again,” Jim said coldly, “and you'll regret it.” Nobody dared to laugh anymore. Everyone was shocked. Jim walked toward Michelle. She was still sitting on the floor, holding her injured hand. Jim stopped in front of her and extended his hand. “Get up.” Michelle looked at his hand. She hesitated before slowly taking it. Jim pulled her to her feet. “Are you hurt?” Michelle shook her head. “No, sir.” Jim glanced at her hand. “You are.” Michelle lowered her eyes. “I'm fine.” Jim looked at her for a moment. Then he turned toward the other guests. “She's a human being.” His voice was cold. “Treat her like one.” Nobody responded. The entire room remained silent. Jim then looked back at Michelle. “Go inside.” Michelle nodded. “Yes, sir.” She slowly walked away. Everyone watched her leave. Then they looked back at Jim. Whispers immediately began spreading among the guests. “Did Jim just defend a maid?” “He never does that.” “Why would he care about her?” “I've never seen him behave like this before.” Even members of the Guo family were shocked. Jim didn't explain himself. He simply left there with his usual cold expression. But everyone in the room had seen what happened. For the first time, Jim Guo had stood up for someone. And that someone was a maid named Michelle.
