The cabin was cold and dark when I arrived. My breath came out in little white clouds in the night air. This place used to feel safe. It was our secret spot, the place where Kaden and I had shared our best moments. Where he had held my face in his hands and promised me a future.

I pushed the door open. Kaden was already inside, pacing back and forth like an animal trapped in a cage. He spun around when he heard me enter. The relief on his face was immediate, but it faded when he saw my expression.
"Aria. Thank the Goddess." He took a step toward me, then stopped. "What's wrong?"
