Chapter two: The name in the notebook

The next morning, I noticed something was different.
The moment i entered the class i noticed mmesoma was already there and staring into a
notebook and was admiring it, as if it was alive.
Normally, she would have noticed me the moment i entered the class or even before I got to my sit regardless of what she was doing.
But today she didn't.
So i dropped my bag quietly.
Then said to her,
"Good morning.”
Then she turned around and for a few seconds her expression looked suprised and frightened as if she was not expecting me.
Then she said,
"Morning.”
I asked,
"Are you okay, is there a problem.”
Then she said to me,
"No not at all, why are you asking.”
Then i said,
"Nothing really, it's just that you look as if there was one.”
"No there isn't one, you just frightened me that is all.”
She said.
"Okay, you bought a new notebook, can i see?.”
I asked, with a follow up question.
" what is in it? What did you write? Can I see?”
I asked trying to look into the book.
The she closed it and said to me.
"It's nothing, just leave it and don't touch it.”
"Why?”
I asked.
The she said to me.
"It's not your business. Mind your business.”
Those words hit me so hard as if they just shot me with a gun. Cause that was the first time she said those words to me or was even rude to me.
Then i said to her.
"Okay fine, i won't.”
"Good.”
She said.
So we didn't speak to each other though out our classes until it was break time.
We went to the library as usual but not together.
When she came to the library after I was already there.
She came up to me and said,
"So you are giving me the silent treatment because of a small misunderstanding we had.”
"Who said I was giving you the silent treatment?”
I asked.
"I said, because that is what you are doing now.”
"What am I doing now?”
I asked.
"You're giving me the silent treatment. That is what you are doing.”
She said,
"Why do you think I am giving you the silent treatment? You have done nothing wrong to me or have you?”
I asked.
"I don't know. You tell me if I have done one.”
She said,
"I don't know either.”
I said and picked up a book to start reading.
Then she said to me,
"Really you don't know.”
She said to me,
"Yeah, I said.”
"Okay so why have you refused to talk to me?”
She asked,
"I am talking to you now right.”
I said.
"Yes.”
She said,
"So what are you talking about? That I refused to talk to you how? That i am giving you the silent treatment. So what is all that about?”
I asked,
"So you are not mad or angry with me about the way I reacted to the book you asked me about.
She said,
"Ohh so you know what did and you said you didn't.”
I said.
Then she said,
"So you are actually angry about it.”
"Who said I was angry?”
I asked.
"I did.”
She said to me,
"Am I angry with you? No. Am I mad at you? No. But am I disappointed? Yes totally.”
I said,
"Okay I am sorry for the way i reacted.”
She said, with a face that melted my heart.
"It's fine.”
I said.
"Good.”
She said with a smile that lightened my heart but not my curiosity.
So I asked.
"So what is in the book? Can I see it now?”
"It's nothing important.”
She said,
"Reall?”
I asked.
"Yeah.”
She said,
"So you are keeping secrets from me?”
I asked.
"No it's not like that.”
She said,
"It's like what?”
I asked.
"You will not understand.”
She said,
"Ohh really?”
I asked.
"Yes.”
She said,
"So make me understand, cause that is what it looks like to me ooo.”
I said.
"See there are things that are better kept hidden. Some truths that are not meant to be told.”
She said,
"Really?”
I asked.
"Yes, when the time is right you will know.”
She said,
"Ohh ok.”
I said.
Then she said to me,
"Promise me you will not go to the book for any reason or go looking for answers.”
"Ok I promise.”
I said.
"Thank you.”
She said,
"Yeah, sure anytime.”
I said.
So after that we went on with our usual plans for the day.
But if I am being totally honest with myself I wasn't sure if I was going to keep the promise I made even though I so much want to.
Because my curiosity will not let me be until i know the truth, like everything there is to know in the truth.
And even though I will. But for how long can i do it.
Well, what I didn't know was that I was going to break that promise sooner than I expected.
