Chapter 2 – The Angel Who Belongs to Hell
The city lights flickered like stars scattered on the ground.
Thanus stood in the shadows, observing Seraphina’s glowing soul hovering above the street. Her delicate wings shimmered faintly, illuminating the night around her. Even in death, even in the silence of the afterlife, her presence was dazzling.
Temptation, ever the impatient one, leaned close to Thanus.
“She’s… different,” he muttered. “I’ve never seen a soul glow like that… not even the most righteous ones.”
Thanus’s ink-black eyes narrowed. “She should belong in hell, according to the records,” he said softly, almost to himself. “But her aura… it’s angelic. There is power here… more than I’ve felt in centuries.”
Seraphina slowly drifted closer to the ground, unsure of what had happened. Her golden eyes scanned the street. Her last memory was of a speeding truck, the sudden pain, and then… nothing.
And now, she could see him.
The devil.
Her heart skipped a beat, though she couldn’t explain why. There was danger radiating from him, yes—but also a strange pull, a force that stirred something deep within her.
“Who… are you?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
“I am Thanus,” he said, his voice smooth like molten darkness. “I am… what the world fears when it looks in the mirror.”
She blinked, trying to comprehend. “The… devil?”
Thanus stepped closer. His tall frame towered over her, his presence suffocating and alluring all at once. “Exactly. And your soul…” he paused, tilting his head, “…was not meant to be here. Yet here you are.”
Temptation snickered from behind a shadowed pillar. “Well, boss, seems like she’s special.”
Thanus ignored him. His attention remained fixed on the glowing angel. He extended a hand—not threatening, but curious. “Tell me… why are you here? Why has heaven sent you to this place?”
Seraphina’s soul pulsed with golden light. She tried to resist the pull, the dangerous allure emanating from him. “I… I don’t know. I wasn’t supposed to die yet. I… I wasn’t supposed to be sent anywhere!”
“Ah,” Thanus said, a dark smile forming on his lips. “Life is always so… imperfect.”
A whisper in the shadows made both of them pause.
“Thanus…” The voice was soft, seductive, and dangerous. “At last…”
From the alley behind them, a woman stepped out. Her fiery red hair flowed like molten fire, her eyes shimmering with desire and power. Lust.
“You’ve finally returned to the earth,” she purred, “and I’ve waited a millennium for this moment.”
Thanus’s dark eyes briefly flickered with recognition. “Lust,” he said, his voice calm but edged with tension.
Temptation’s jaw dropped. “You two… knew each other?”
Lust’s smile widened. “A thousand years, Thanus. Do you have any idea how long I’ve waited? For the moment you’d walk the earth again?”
Thanus didn’t answer immediately. His attention shifted back to Seraphina, her golden glow highlighting her ethereal beauty. A thought crossed his mind—unexpected, unbidden.
Could a soul so pure and angelic… truly belong to the one who drags sinners to hell?
Lust stepped closer, her aura dripping seduction. “She’s yours, isn’t she?” she hissed, her eyes locking on the angel.
Thanus’s gaze didn’t leave Seraphina. “Not yet,” he said simply.
The night air thickened, charged with power and tension. Angels, devils, spirits of desire, and humans all converged in this moment.
And from this night, the war between temptation and purity had begun.tbc
