The young girl had suffered from poor eyesight since birth and had to wear very thick lensed glasses to see anything. Human children being what they are, she suffered cruelly at the hands of her contemporaries and as a result had a poor quality of life. Apparently, the decision that something had to be done was taken after she had begun wandering alone in the underground tunnels that lead to the Martian ruins, “Looking for the Martians,” she told her father on several occasions.
On the advice of the family doctor, a human doctor believe it or not, her father had brought her to Lunar Medical all the way from Solis Planum on Mars where medical systems were of course Colonist-Basic.
