She stood staring at him. He looked so much like his father. There was some of that b***h Cherub in there too. Ugh… she hated Cherub. Not only had she stolen Dean from her but, she had stolen her chance at becoming a powerful Luna. Now what Cherub, I have your precious son! She laughed bitterly at the thought, excited her plan was working. He will provide my daughter with the heir she deserves, then my place of power in the pack will be restored. My daughter will forever be the most powerful female alpha ever. She chuckled as she sauntered away, her plan was working.

Even with those red swollen eyes, her hair a mess, and wearing her favorite pair of loose pajama pants, Sky is still gorgeous. How had Caleb gotten to be her mate? They had mated and marked each other as her pretty neck now displayed his mark. ‘She should have been mine,’ he thought to himself. Caleb would pull something like this, he gets her pregnant and takes off, leaving her alone. Bastard.
She stood up hugging him again. “I am so glad you came. I missed you,” she smiled up at him. Without realizing it, he leaned down kissing the top of her head. She pushed him away. “Evan, I. Please don’t. I’m sorry, maybe you should go,” She stammered taking a few steps back.
“Sky, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that. I was only trying to make you feel better. You know, how a big brother would with his little sister.” He knew he was lying to her. He still wanted her, even now. “Goddess, what is wrong with me?’ he asked himself. She is mated, marked, and carrying her mate’s pup.
“I’m sorry, I know you would never try anything,” she looked down at her hands.
“No, Sky, I’m sorry,” Evan felt the guilt rising within him.
“Ok you two, get over it, and let’s go,” Daphne was sitting on the edge of the bed. “We need to get going if this is going to work.”
Sky stretched trying to calm her nerves. Quietly heading down the stairs to the main kitchen, she listened for anything warning of someone downstairs. They didn’t have much time before daylight would have the pack coming down for breakfast.
“Pick me up by the old oak tree in ten minutes,” before either of them could answer, she slipped out the backdoor disappearing into the darkness.
“I am linking Gideon. I’m going to tell him Sky looked herself in her room so you and me are going to look for Caleb.” She felt bad for lying to her mate but, Sky was desperate. Her eyes glazed overtaking on that faraway look when using the mate link or the pack link.
“Gideon, have you found anything?” she asked through the link.
“We found out how they were able to lure him away. One of Sky’s shirts was found in the clearing next to the boarder, with blood on it. We followed Caleb’s tracks here. It looks like he was knocked out somehow and then dragged across the border. He seems to have been put in a car and driven further north into “no man’s land,” he sounded worried.
“Isn’t that towards the female alpha’s territory?” Daphne had heard about her. She was known for being ruthless. Many thought she had formed her pack by joining together the rogues. No one had believed this could have been possible. To unite the rogues was a seemingly impossible task.
“Yes Babe, it is,” Gideon sounded different. His normal fun, the confident tone was replaced by a somber tone.
‘What would that she-wolf want with Caleb anyway?’
“Babe, where is Sky?” Gideon asked through the mate’s link.
“Oh, um, Sky is well, she locked herself in her room. She said she needed to rest. Me and Evan are joining in the search while she sleeps.” Daphne’s heart hurt as she lied to her mate. She wanted to help Sky too. She felt torn. If the pack knew Sky was out looking, they would bring her back. It wasn’t that they didn’t trust her, they wanted to keep her safe. They would do that for Caleb. They would keep her safe no matter the danger it may put them in.
A few minutes later, they reached the tree. “Sky? Sky?”
“I’m here,” she whispered just loud enough for them to hear. She climbed in the jeep, “let’s go before anyone sees us.” Evan sped away heading north.

“Sky? Sky! Come back, why are you leaving me?” Her voice sounded strange to him, her laugh too. Why was she walking away? Didn’t she hear him? Better yet, why couldn’t he smell her usual scent of chocolate and strawberries? Sniffing the air, he could only smell rancid fruit and rotten eggs. Rogues. He tried to sit up; his body felt heavy. ‘Why am I so weak?’
“Naughty wolfie, you are supposed to be asleep,” a different female voice this time.
“Please, where is Sky? I need my mate.” He tried in vain to sit up once again. This time he felt the silver burning his skin as he pulled against the heavy chains.
“Easy wolfie, you have to be alive so we can mate.”
“Mate? No! I will never mate with you!” He could hear Thor whimper as he tried to free himself again. Something sharp stabbed into his side, burning as it entered his skin. “No! Please, stop!” His vision became more blurred as he felt the burning spread throughout his body. “Please, I need Sky, please,” he asked as he slipped into darkness.
‘The mate bond must be stronger than I imagined,’ Scarlett thought as she watched him slip into a deep sleep once again. Even though he was chained with silver chains and being injected with small doses of silver to knock him out, he still thought of his mate. He must truly love her.
She had dreamed of finding her mate since she was a pup. Her mother had found her true mate, he was Scarlett’s father. Her mother had mated with him before rejecting him. She claimed she could never love anyone but Alpha Dean Mason. Her mother had belonged to the Moon Warriors pack before she was banished to the life of a rogue. She had fallen in love with Dean, and he claimed he loved her. He had agreed to make her his mate and Luna. She hadn’t loved him of course; she had wanted to be Luna so she could eventually kill Dean and rule the pack. Scarlett sighed remembering how her mother’s eyes grew huge at the mention of power.
A few months later, they both had been forced by their parents to attend the mate’s ball. Dean’s mother had told him he had to find the mate that was sent to him by the Moon goddess. Dean had argued but lost in the end. Dean had promised to reject his mate and make her mother his mate and Luna. As fate would have it, he did meet his true mate that night. Cherub, Caleb’s mother. She was a cute little blonde with big emerald, green eyes and a voice that seemed to hypnotize Dean. At that moment, he forgot about anyone but Cherub.
Her mother had left early as she had no intentions of finding her true mate. She waited for Dean to come but he never appeared. A few days passed and her mother grew worried. She went to the packhouse to find him. As she entered, she was met with stares from other wolves. Some sympathetic and others amused. She knocked on his door. When he opened the door, she instantly felt the anger and hatred fill her heart. There on his neck was the fresh mate’s mark of Cherub.
She lunged at him screaming she would kill them both. She was dragged away by the pack warriors. Dean tried to talk to her a few days later but, she refused to accept Cherub as her Luna. She renounced her allegiance to the pack and was banished by Dean to forever live the life of a rogue.
Her mother always swore her revenge. Scarlett wanted to help avenge her as a child but, as she grew, she wished it could be forgotten. Scarlett was a good Alpha. Her people loved and respected her, and she was known as a fierce Alpha female. She had the reputation within her pack of being strong and fair. She had wanted to speak with the bordering packs to attend the mate’s ball. When her mother heard of this, she forbade it, telling Scarlett a mate would make her weak. She knew she wanted an heir but to get an heir this way is not how she pictured it.
