Watching him sleep sent tingles up her spine. He was magnificent. Her mate! Her true mate! He offered the chance for a better life; one she had hoped for since she was a pup. She wanted to stay with him forever. She loved him. They had mated and marked each other in a heated moment of passion. She didn’t care that she now bore his mark. To her, it was a promise of safety.
She had returned to her pack not long after. She knew going into heat was a risk now that they had mated and marked each other. She had been right. A week later, she felt her heat beginning. She had linked her mate through the mate’s link. He had snuck away from his pack to come be with her. They had spent a passion-filled week together. When he left to go back, she had felt the loss more than she imagined she would. At that moment she stopped denying the need for normal pack life she had fought against for so many years.
She had to find a way to join his pack. To be with him. She knew he was a high-ranking member in his pack, but she had been a rogue since birth. Her father was a member of an established pack which meant they would extend an invitation to her. Her father, she hadn’t thought about him in so long. She missed him.
She knew at that moment she would need help, but who would help her? A rogue with a murderous mother? Sky. Sky would help her. She needed Sky.

“You are amazing. I don’t know how I got lucky enough to be your mate,” Caleb was sitting with Sky on the sofa, she had fallen asleep in his arms “You are so strong, so fierce. I love you my beautiful mate.” She had saved him, an Alpha. He was truly amazed by her. She had done all of this while carrying their pup.
She began to stir in his arms. “Baby Girl, wake up,” he coaxed gently. “We have to leave for the doctor soon.”
She stretched as she opened her eyes. “Ok, I guess you are right.” Her baby bump had grown a lot in the last couple weeks. She wolves were able to give birth within four to five months, alphas’ mates were able to give birth sooner than that due to the alpha blood in their pups.
He kissed the top of her head before untangling himself from her. He had wanted to stay like that all day. Snuggled up watching movies with his Sky.
She looked at her phone, “Babe, we have a few hours before we have to be there.” She knew he was excited, but she did not feel like leaving just yet.
He came back into the room, “I know we are early but, I want to get there so we don’t miss our appointment.”
“We will be three hours early,” she wanted to just stay snuggled under her blanket on the sofa.
Without warning, he scooped her up and spun her around. “Come on Baby Girl, we will find out if we are having a son or a daughter!”
She stretched up wrapping her arms around his neck. She crashed her lips onto his mark and started sucking on it. She could feel him tense at the sensation. “Do we still have to go right now?” she asked seductively.
“Nope, we have time.” With that he bounded up the stairs with her in his arms.
A few hours later, they were leaving the doctor’s office. “A daughter, we are having a daughter!” Caleb was ecstatic. A daughter, he hoped she would look just like Sky.
He paused turning to look back at her, “Are you ok?”
She smiled at him. “Yes, I am ok. I am enjoying watching your excitement. I have to tell you something, I knew we were having a daughter. I didn’t tell you because I wanted to have that moment with you.” She watched his expression.
“Baby Girl, I understand. You wanted the couple’s moment. After what we have been through, I do not blame you. Either way, we are having a daughter!” He paused and seemed lost in thought. “I thought of a name, for our daughter.” His eyes looked so hopeful.
“Tell me what it is,” she coaxed him.
“Rayne. I think her name should be Rayne.”
She looked at him, “I like that. I believe you just named our daughter.” She smiled as a stray tear ran down her cheek. She was so happy. “Aria said she will be a strong and powerful girl. I think the rain is strong and powerful. It comes no matter what is happening, and it is strong enough to cleanse the Earth.” She jumped at him throwing her arms around his neck. “I love you, Caleb.” She kissed him as though her very life depended upon it.
He kissed her back as he ran his fingers through her hair. “I love you too Baby Girl.”
“Why won’t he answer his phone? He probably hates me.” Sky plopped down next to Daphne.
“He doesn’t hate you; the problem is he loves you,” Daphne could tell she was hurting. Sky had never wanted to hurt Evan, she always wanted him around. The three of them had always been together before the girls found their mates. Daphne felt a pang of guilt as she had never told Sky Evan had been in love with her.
Sky looked as though she may burst into tears. Her emotions had been all over the place lately. The doctor said it was normal for someone in her stage of pregnancy. “Daph, why won’t he answer?”
Daphne sighed, “he won’t answer because he is letting you go.”
“What do you mean?” Sky asked as though Daphne had spoken in a foreign language. “Why would Evan let me go?”
“Sky, he is in love with you. He has always been in love with you.” Daphne blurted out.
Sky looked at her friend, “I know,” Sky replied.
“You know?” Daphne was confused.
“Yes, I have always known,” Sky rubbed her swollen belly. “I had hoped he would find his mate at the same time I did. I thought that would lessen the blow. I told him not to love me, not until we found out if we were mates.”
Evan had left the night she and Caleb returned. He never said goodbye, never even told them he was leaving. He had always been her friend and protector. She hoped this was not the end. “I don’t want to let him go.”
“Let go of who?” a familiar voice asked.
“Evan? Evan! You are here!” Sky couldn’t believe he was here, standing in front of her. She jumped up and hugged him. “I am so happy you came back.”
“I had to come back. Caleb called and told me you have been so upset about me leaving. I couldn’t leave you like that.” He looked at the floor. “I’m sorry Sky, I thought the best thing I could do would be to leave you alone. I felt like I needed to let you go to move on. I see now that I was wrong. I could never forget about you. Can you ever forgive me?”
“Of course, I can!” she hugged him again.
“Glad to see you two made up,” Caleb was leaning against the door watching. “Baby Girl, I hope you aren’t mad that I didn’t tell you I called him.”
“Mad? Of course not! Thank you, Babe! You gave me my friend back!” Sky ran to him, throwing her arms around Caleb's neck, she pulled him to her, kissing him.
