Shifting uncomfortably in her seat, her foot going numb, Kelly stared out the window at the dark landscape as they continued on their way to Pheonix. Not being able to make out much more than the occasional cactus, she shifted again, turning to look at her husband beside her. Tate sat silently, his hands clenched tightly around the steering wheel. His jaw was tight. A muscle twitched irritably. His amber eyes were trained on the road in front of them. Something was bothering him, but Kelly couldn’t quite put her finger on what unless he was still upset over Mitch hurting her.
