64 The Mythical War Sword Wielder

The Quartz Shadow Essence started was so soft that it was almost turning into a state of liquid. It looked like it was melting and was spreading across Thaleos’ palm. As soon as the whole essence was absorbed into his skin, he didn’t feel anything special, but he did feel quite satisfied with the sensation. It was as if the essence was meant to be part of his system, and it gave him this sense of comfort. But based on what Ur told him, he needed to collect more of the purple essence to make sure that he can fully use its power. He wasn’t quite sure how many more he needed, but he just needed to watch out for more quartz or metallic caves. He was even playing with the idea in his head that maybe shadow beasts may also have the purple essence. He wrote all these theories down and proceeded to mine the three-headed beast for all its worth. He managed to get some of its bone, eyes, and heart. Based on James’ journal, the three-headed beast’s body parts are usually made to craft enchanted weapons. So, he hid them away and proceeded to get up. He ordered his two beasts two go back into the duel space, and he stared at one of the wolf-eagles that just died. He petted the wolf-eagle’s head one last time before leaving the cave. He remembered that the first type of beast he has ever encountered was the wolf-eagle. It felt like it’s been forever since that happened, but it reminded him of how far they’ve come. From a psychiatrist hanging on the edge of sanity to a beast tamer that’s now doing his best to survive. The journey reminded him of all the good things and the bad things that happened. Right now, he was just thankful that he had a support system with him. No one can survive in this world alone. If they could, then they would be someone that had the mental stability of a fortress. After going out of the cave, he found himself near the cabin they originally stayed in. Thaleos wasn’t quite sure about the whole geographical mapping of the second world. It seemed like the major areas or quests are in the same location, but their doors sometimes lead you somewhere else. This world was a bit tricky, but you just have to become a master of doors or basically someone who understands their patterns. He quickly went inside the cabin and decided to get some rest. Luckily it was just about two hours after lunch, so he just took out some of the bacon sandwiches that Kedrick made and immediately gobbled at them like there was no tomorrow. After finishing the sandwich and drinking some water, he decided to take a nap quickly. He didn’t know how mentally, emotionally, and physically tired he was, and by the time he woke up, the sun was already down. “f**k!” He felt his heart beating quite quickly, as he was stuck with deciding between staying over the night or venturing out to escape through the door. Either way, Thaleos knew that he was screwed. The last time he slept throughout the night, he almost died in his nightmare. So although the forest would now be filled with extremely weak or powerful creatures, he decided to risk it. At the very least, the three-headed beast was able to ready him for strong beasts. He packed all his things and made sure that all his weapons were intact. After strapping in his boots, he quietly opened the cabin door and stealthily walked through the trail back to the vortex. He was hoping that since he was within the safety lines, then he would be comparatively safer. But he knew that the rules didn’t work like that at night. The animals went haywire at night because of the imbalance mixture between miasma and mana in the air. Thaleos could even feel some of his mana ebbing away because of the amount of miasma in the air. When he heard something stepping on a branch, he immediately unsheathed his dagger and went to where the sound was. He made sure to keep a good distance away from the beast. He was checking if he needed to kill the beast or he could just let it be. When he saw that it was just a couple of ant beasts feasting on the carcasses of the killed beast, the beast tamer made sure to walk away and go back to the trail quietly. Once he was back in the route, he paused for a bit as he felt like there was something following him. He tried walking a couple of steps forward and was quite sure he heard a whistle and the rustling of the leaves. He paused again, and the sounds stopped, too. Now, Thaleos was positive that something was following him. It didn’t seem to be a human player or even a player in general based on the sounds. He debated just making a run for it, but he knew that if he did that, then there was a large chance that he would attract other monsters as well.   So he took out his bow and arrow and proceeded to walk backward. Once catching the direction of the sound, he aimed his arrow at the sound and swiftly released his hold. The arrow rapidly flew through the air and immediately hit the creature. The bearded man could confirm this because he heard the beasts shouting in pain. When it revealed itself, it looked like a cub. Thaleos could feel his left eye twitch because he knew that the mother bear was probably nearby. Proving his hunch correct, he heard heavy paws running through the trail, and he spotted the red eyes of the bear. The beast tamer immediately made a run for it, saying f**k it as he was half away from the vortex already. He knew that the screaming cub and angry mother bear's commotion was enough of a signal for other monsters and beasts to approach them. Thaleos ran as quickly as possible, but this proved to be a futile effort because soon, he was surrounded by a sleuth or a whole angry group of demonic-looking bears. The beast tamer almost chuckled at how absolutely screwed. There were about four or five bears just about ready to maul him to death. The beast tamer quickly took out his katana and one of the ominous black potions in his utility bag. Although bears weren’t particularly slow, they weren’t also the fastest animals in the whole kingdom. Thaleos realized that he wasn’t quite sure if the bears were at their strongest or weakest right now, so he just decided to use the knockout potion that emitted sleep-inducing smoke. He smashed it on the ground, and soon enough, the whole vicinity was covered in dark smoke. Thaleos took that time to run as if his life depended on it; in this case, it did depend on it. And although the gas didn’t knock-out the demonic bears, it did distract them as they waved their arms around, finding their way out of the smoke. Thankfully, they weren’t as intelligent as the three-headed beast, or else, he’d be dead by now. He finally let out a breath of relief when he saw the familiar purple and blue vortex a couple of feet away. Just as he was about to reach the stairs, he saw a large dragon flying over the vortex. He stared at it for a split second before hearing the growls and whistling of the demonic bear behind him. He didn’t even have the time to process what fully happened as he ran as quickly as he could through the portal and felt the familiar whooping sensation of being pulled. After hearing the thunderous roar of the dragon, Thaleos found himself back in the old gymnasium. When he felt nauseous from the excess miasma, he immediately made his way out of the purple and blue-smoke covered gym. As he went out, he spotted Reiko just casually smoking outside the gym. “What the f**k happened, man? You look like shit.” Reiko asked casually while taking a long drag from his cigarette. “Dude, I always look like s**t. Also, I recommend not entering the door until tomorrow afternoon. There’s a f*****g dragon.” Thaleos coolly muttered while drinking large gulps of water. He barely got out the sentence properly as he was still gasping for breath. Before Reiko could ask a question about the whole dragon thing, the beast tamer heard a familiar voice shouting in a cheerful voice. He walked a bit nearer to the main manor and saw the Emerging Group. He paused as he saw the familiar strong-headed and curvaceous leader, Nala, doing a sword dance. She held the familiar mythical sword he sold them and was happily wielding it like it was a part of her. Everyone around her was cheering as loud as they could and clapping their hands as the wonderful sword wielder passionately dance. Once the number was done, Thaleos couldn’t help but clap his hand. He has never treated his swords as passionately as Nala does, but he could definitely learn a thing or two from her. Spotting him from across the crowd, Nala shouted in her deep voice, “Thaleos! How have you been?”
