48 The Welcome Party

After spending the next couple of minutes getting lost in the awe-inspiring sight, Thaleos heard Kedrick calling out to him through the portal. “T, bro, what’s happening?” They all head this worried look on their faces, as they thought that something happened to Thaleos—potentially, an illusion or hypnotic spell. They all breathed a sigh of relief as they heard the bearded man confirming to the umber man that he was okay. Soon after, each one of them entered through the shifting portal until Nala finally entered last. They all stood and just watched the whole scene before them, similar to how the beast tamer stared at the view the first time he saw it. “Woah, everything looks like a f*****g dream. I mean, floating whales, damn.” Haya spoke under his breath, which made the other guild chuckle a bit at his remark. “Well, this looks like it. We disperse here and hopefully see each other in the whole course of the second stage.” Nala gave Thaleos a firm handshake and straightforward gaze. After everyone said their goodbyes to each other, the Emerging Group decided to head north; and on the other hand, their group of four headed straight to the south. While walking, Ygritte was staring at the moving sand. It was incredible how the sand’s movements were as gentle as beach waves but were comparatively warmer to the touch. Haya was equally fascinated as he took some of waves, as they hiked up a bit on the higher parts of the desert. He was at awe when he noticed how the sand on his hand still moved in the same pattern as the waves of sand below him. “Look, this is so f*****g awesome. It’s like they’re conditioned to move this way regardless of what happens.” Their little group gradually paused to look at the moving sand on the tan man’s hand. “That is quite interesting. I wonder if everything here is conditioned or if it’s just the environment.” Thaleos thought to himself, as he stared around the location. In the higher parts of the shifting sand lands, there were more of those large trees with pantone pink leaves. They crowded near each other and as the wind picked up, some of the pink leaves started falling on the ground. While enjoying the whole sight, Ygritte noticed how the leaves were slowly swirling around until the harsh wind started moving the leaves in one direction. Soon enough, the little swirls were turning into large tornadoes and in the distance, they could see the familiar Cornish faeries. But instead of the regular green leaves, the second stage version had pink ones on them, and their horns were filled with white and lavender flowers. The group of four spotted at least three of these faeries sitting on the thick branches of the large trees and they seemed to be enjoying the show. One of them flicked their branchy fingers and the tornadoes of pink flowers headed straight to their direction. They had to think fast, so Thaleos took out two of his wolf-eagles and ordered it to carry the four of them. They tried flying as far as they could, but it was as if the whole environment was collaborating together to push them to where the tornadoes were. “f**k, how the hell is this happening? This s**t ain’t fair.” Kedrick shouted in frustration, and the other three agreed. Ygritte decided to think fast and took out her bow and arrow, and decided to aim her bow at the Cornish faerie that was moving its hands and controlling the environment. Although aiming through the tornadoes was difficult, Haya helped by bringing out his large axe and activating his blood lust skill. The extra boost in strength gave him the ability to create more powerful attacks. So, he shouted at Thaleos to place them on the ground and hand him some of the bloodlust potion. And although the beast tamer initially disagreed with his plan, Haya’s forceful and desperate look pushed him to give the said potion. As the berserker drank a couple of drops of the potion, he could feel his whole body heating up in eagerness to sink his axe into any live body. “Move away, guys. This can be a bit dangerous.” The berserker gritted his teeth, as he struggled with saying each word. The beast tamer, druid, and priest all ran a couple of feet away. As Haya focused all his strength on his axe, Thaleos ordered one of the wolf-eagles to go around the tornadoes and go to where the faeries were. As soon as the wolf-eagles quickly reached the Cornish faeries, it tried clawing the head faerie. This momentary distraction gave Haya all the time he needs. He quickly raised his large axe and slammed it on the ground with as much as force as he could; he placed all his added energy and strength into that one slam. The strong attack created waves and waves of air, which directly met with the tornadoes—essentially causing the tornadoes to lowkey dissipate. Upon seeing the clear path, the beast tamer teamed up with the druid in attacking the Cornish faeries with endless arrows. While attacking various vital points from a considerable distance, Thaleos ordered his other wolf-eagle to also attack the faerie, since it was planning to start tornadoes again. Seeing the weaking bunch, they quickly ran back towards the trees and got picked up by the wolf-eagles and dropped off on the large thick branches. Although Kedrick was terrified of heights, he chose to close his eyes and trust his instincts instead. This was one of the training he received when he was aiming to become a hitman and assassin. Right at this moment, he was facing off with one of the faeries on a separate branch. The other three player where in another branch, the biggest extremity of the tree, and fought with the two Cornish faeries. Kedrick tightly closed his eyes and relied on his senses to track where the faerie was. In a split second, he felt a leaf slicing through his cheek—blood slowly dripped down on his left cheek. Calculating how fast the leaf was, he trusted his gut reaction and quickly run towards the left. Equipped with an axe dipped in hatred-inducing poison, he sliced the Cornish faerie’s left hand off. As soon as the poison touched the faerie, it immediately went berserk. Before it even had the chance to attack the priest, he quickly jumped to another branch and watched it attack its fellow faerie. Kedrick opened his eyes and saw how the other faerie was slightly confused with why its fellow faerie attacked it. Its eyes turned into an angry shade of dark pink, almost reddish, and proceeded to attack back. In return, this confused Thaleos as he assumed that this world’s beasts would be slightly more intellectual. Regardless of this thought process, they all decided to take advantage of the moment and proceeded to cut down the three faeries all together with all their might. As the three Cornish faeries tried to fight back, Haya, still filled with bloodlust, went berserk and continued cutting them down until they were no longer recognizable. This shocked the other three, but decided not to stop the berserker as he knew that he wasn’t in the right mind right now. Haya just kept hacking and slashing, and even when he levelled up throughout the whole affair, he still kept attacking the faeries. A blue dialogue box appeared before him, which pushed him back to his senses. When the group of three saw that the berserker no longer had that deranged look on his face, they quickly approached their friend. “Dude, are you alright?” Kedrick asked the young man who had bruises on his hands from tightly gripping the sword. Haya just shook his head with a disappointed look on his face and just looked at the blue dialogue box. “Congratulations! You are now a Level 10 Berserker. Increase 50 in Health Points, 45 in Magic Points, 55 in Strength. Bloody Daggers Skill unlocked. Radical Rage Skill unlocked. Summon Wolf Familiar Skill unlocked.” Haya couldn’t fully enjoy the level up announcement as he felt exhausted of the bloodlust potion seeping through his system. In his mind, he asked what these new skills were and the dialogue box immediately changed the message showing their definitions. “The Bloody Dagger Skill allows you to summon ten levitating bloody daggers. You can control these daggers and use them to attack your opponents three times. After attacking said enemies, it will disappear.” The message changed again to show the next description, “The Radical Rage Skill is a variant of Berserker Fury, activating this alongside the latter skill will help you strategically control your bloodlust. Although, it can only control your bloodlust for ten minutes straight.” The last definition was, “The Summon Wolf Familiar Skill allows you to summon spirit wolves from the underworld. Warning, the first time you summon the spirit wolves, you are required to tame them. Only after taming them will they heed your every call.” After the last message, the blue dialogue box disappeared. Hearing the second skill made Haya way calmer than earlier. Knowing that he can gradually start controlling his bloodlust, he breathed a sigh of relief and momentarily closed his eyes in peace. But his peace was immediately cut off as he heard Thaleos’ next words, “It’s not over yet.”
