Chapter 19THE FOREIGN MOTORCYCLE GANG had hijacked an old train and used it to spray a barn by the tracks with machine gun fire. The tracks indicated many bikes. The gang had attacked a splinter group from the local Camorra that held hostages in the barn. None of the group survived. Kidnapping was a common way of financing local gangs after the fall of State authority, but foreign bikers were a new development.
“What hostages?” Crane asked idly.
“One foreigner and his Albanian whore.”
“Got a name?”
“Wallenbergi, I think, Mr. Cole.”
Crane almost choked on the bourbon and bit his tongue to keep a straight face as he scribbled in his notebook.
“This foreigner, Wallenbergi, was he killed?”
“Sigurimi not find his body.”
“And the Albanian woman?
“Woman is wanted dead
