Book 4, Heimdallr Chapter 25BACK IN LONDON, BURTON Crane had spring in his step as he crossed Lambeth Bridge to Century House. In mid-August, the air was autumn crisp. The music of the flute floated on the breeze: a royal tune with an Irish flavor recalled British orders, a part of old England that no longer was. Sidney had no idea what Crane was bringing to this meeting. Wallenberg had been right on the money. The STASI file had been waiting on his kitchen table in Schoolbell Mews in a Deutsche Post envelope with second class postage. The nerve of these guys, he thought. Burned by the debacle, Sidney had been saddled with a chaperon from above. He was a colonel who Crane had met in Wiesbaden but had never got a handle on who was his daddy. Both left it to Sidney to sort out the muddle.
