Chapter Seventeen

I lay on the bed there in our hotel room. What was wrong with me? I felt out of sorts. We were now over in Japan.
Touring.
We were halfway into the tour. I was counting the days down to when I was going to be going back home to be with my Devon. Alone. It seemed being on tour we hardly got a few moments alone.
I groan as I feel tired. Weak. I did not want more coffee. I needed another time for a nap. That was all. I glance over at the bedside nightstand there to my right.
When had I ate all those bags of chips? I knew I was famished before. But there had to be five opened bags that I devoured there. I sigh. There was something up with me.
Mood swings. Tired. Eating or getting sick. Between the two this was getting annoying. I frown. When was the last time I had a period?
I know when I was on the island, I lost track of time there. And I was not keeping count of when I was on my period. Not only that Devon and I both were distracted with one another. Was I late?
I was. I knew it deep down.
Could I be having Devon's love child??
I sigh. I had to know. I get the bodyguard there in the hall.

"Can you do me a favor before Devon gets back in his room?" I ask the man. "I promise I will stay right here in my room and I won't go anywhere, okay? I need a big, big favor" I beg the man.
"What is it?" my guard grunts at me making me nervous.
"I might be. I might be.... having a baby. And I need a pregnancy test" I tremble out softly.
"You need a what? Sorry I did not hear you" he tells me.
"I need a test! A pregnancy test" I yell a little too loudly there. Some people curiously glance over at us as they walk on by.
"You are having a baby? Devon is having a baby?" gushes the guard. "I love babies" he squeals.
"I am not sure. Get me a test please" I beg him. I give him cash for the test.
"Alright you got it" he tells me before he takes off.
I shut the door. Then sit on the bed. Close one. Devon was off doing a photo shoot for the fans there in Japan.
He was going to be posting it all over the website online. I had time to find out if I was having his baby. Was I ready to have a baby? I look down at my tummy. My hands rest on my stomach.

"A baby?" I say as I feel myself smile. If we had a girl, it might look like Janet. So cute. I wanted the baby to have Devon's eyes. His smile. Everything.
Pretty soon there is a knock on the door.
"I have the test" announces the guard. I let him in.
"Thank you" I say as I grab the test.
"I got you a few kinds. The lettering is different. But this one reads if you have a pink bow two of them you are having a baby. One red bow means you are not having a baby. Neat huh?" says the guard.
"Thanks" I say.
"This other one just has lines. Kind of boring. I would take the first one" he rambles on. He was so excited. He did love babies.
"Alright. I will let you know once I am done" I laugh as I shoo him out the door.
I go in the bathroom. Read over the test. Try to. Then I pee on them all. Taking the test. I set them down on the counter. Then wait in the bathroom.
"Melody?" Devon calls out.
"Crap!" I mutter. "hold on. Going to the bathroom" I tell him. "be right there"
I throw the wrappers away. Then hide the tests until I knew if I was having a baby or not. Then I rush out there to Devon's side.

"Hi babe" he greets me. He pulls me in his arms for a hug. Then he kisses me. "the guard said you were sick. That I needed to check on you? Everything okay?"
"He was worried. Over nothing" I scoff.
"Are you sure? I can take you to be checked" he offers sweetly.
I smile. "I will be fine" I say. He plants a kiss on my lips.
"How was the photo shoot?" I ask him.
"It is so hot out today. I was glad to come back here. So many fans were watching us. Everyone was glad to see me. It was so amazing. I wish you could have been there with me" he sighs.
He holds me.
"I know. I have felt yucky lately. I needed rest" I say.
"I can still get you checked on" he offers.
I shake my head. "I think I know what might be wrong. It will be okay" I promise.
He kisses me. "If there is anything wrong you tell me" he adds. "you got it?"
"I promise I will" I say.
"Devon, they need you" someone calls at the door.
"I have to go. I will be back soon so we can have dinner together. How does that sound?" he asks me. "I wanted to stop here and check in on you"
"Thank you that sounds amazing" I say.
I lean in kissing him deeply on the lips.
"I love you Mel" he softly tells me.
"I love you Dev" I add. "See you soon enough baby"
He nods then smiles before heading out the door.
I rush back in the bathroom to read the tests. I grab the one with the bows. I gasp. I squeal. Dizziness washes over me. A wave of giddiness comes to my soul.

"I am having a baby!" I yelp. "I am having a baby!" I squeal.
I rush out to find my guard there.
"I am having a baby" I tell him. Michael!
I rush to the elevator before he leaves.
"Devon!" I yell for him. "Devon!" I breathlessly yell.
I catch him.
"Mel what is wrong?" he worries. He gets out of the elevator.
"Guess? Guess what?" I tremble as I hold the test in my hand. He glances at the test. His eyes grow wide. Then he grins.
"Are you having a baby?" he gasps.
I nod. "I am. We are" I laugh.
He grabs me then holds me as tight as he can. He twirls me around in his arms. Laughing with joy.

"You are having a baby?" he exclaims.
"I am having a baby baby" I tease.
He holds me then kisses me.
"Mel, I can't believe it" he stammers.
"Me either Devon" I softly say. "is this too soon for this?"
"Not at all. Perfect timing. I want a large family" he says.
"Me to" I say with a grin.
He kisses me. Holding me close.
"We have so much to celebrate tonight" he tells me. "I wish I did not have to go"
"But you do. We will celebrate tonight" I agree.
He kisses me.
"Take care of my baby, baby" he softly tells me as he places a hand on my tummy. Then he kisses me.
"I will" I promise him.
He then leaves. He looks so happy before heading on his way. This was the start of our little family.
