It was time to fly. Needless to say, I was so nervous to be on a plane yet again. When I was last on the plane it crashed. Devon had been looking into why the plane had crashed in the first place. He was starting to think that someone had been trying to kill him. I think he was right. Normally his jet planes ran smoothly. So, it did not make any sense for a perfect plane to crash in the middle of nowhere!
I hoped that this time the plane would not crash. And we would not die. Devon l had to get on with his life. And perform for his fans. We could not live our lives in total fear all the time. That was not a healthy way of living. I would get over it.
Maybe.
Maybe I should seek counseling for this if this issue did not go away. My fear of flying was giving me such bad anxiety. I could hardly stand it! I sigh as I watch Devon over see workers loading our things on the plane. I tap my foot on the floor as I wait to fly off.
Devon comes over and sits beside me. “How are you holding up baby?” he asks me.
He places a hand on top of mine.
“I do not like flying. But I do not like being away from you. And I would worry to much if I stayed home here. I know I made the right choice to go with you” I add.
He plants a kiss on my cheek.
“You really did. And you know what I am so proud of you. I know this is not easy. Trust me, I know this! I hate flying now. I was not looking forward to this. But it has to be done you know?” he sighs as he moves his long dark bangs out of his face.
I smile as I take his hand in mine. “You feel the same way as I do?” I ask. That made me feel better knowing that he felt the same as I did.
“Yes, I kept having nightmares about the crash. With body covering yours. Hearing you scream helplessly. I had to take a sleeping pill to take the edge off” he grumbles.
“Just do not keep depending on those. Those can be bad for you” I warn him.
“I know. I am not Elvis or other stars you know. I am not a pill popper sweetheart. But thank you for worrying about me” he says.
I nod. “Maybe we will have fun. And not end up on an island in the middle of nowhere” I joke.
“I would not mind being on an island. As long as I am with you” he jokes.
I blush with pleasure. “Same” I giggle.
Soon the plane gets ready for take-off. I gasp as I grasp the seat with both hands. Devon places an arm round the back of my shoulder to bring me comfort. I close my eyes and hold my breath. I did not bother to look out the window. I could not bring myself to. The plane was soon in the air. Smooth sailing. I was all tensed up.
“We are okay sweetheart” Devon coos. “Open your eyes” he orders to me.
I sigh and then open my eyes.
Before long the plane was flying just fine. We were going to be okay.
“Devon?” I ask.
“Yes?” he answers me.
“Do you really think someone tried to kill you?” I worry.
He nods. “Why else would my plane crash? None of my planes ever crashed before” he says thoughtfully. “at my private airport the workers are looking into this with the authorities”
“That is a smart idea. Be safe” I add.
“Try not to worry love” he says.
Soon we have lunch on the plane. I have chicken cordon blue. The cream sauce was divine. I could eat this everyday it was that good. Mouth watering good. His chef on the plane was a five-star chef. Only the best for Devon. It was sad he had to hire a bunch of new people to work on his jet plane. Since the others had died in the crash. Devon had paid for all their funerals for the families loss. He even attended some funerals to pay his respect for the families of his workers. He was so kind.
“How was lunch?” Devon asks me when we are done eating.
“Wonderful” I tell him. “I loved it. So yummy!”
I kiss him. “You spoil me” I giggle.
“I know what you love Melody. I told you that I was going to make sure you are taken care of on this trip and I meant it! You will be” he reminds me.
I beam happily. “I love you so very much” I say softly. “I am so lucky that I am in your life”
“I am the lucky one. I still remember the first day I hired you and you walked into my life” he says with a smile.
I blush. “I spilled things. I made messes. I was so nervous around you” I chuckle.
“You were adorable. Sweet and innocent” he says. “I knew then I had to make you as my own. And you are” he teases me. “I always get my woman” he jokes.
“Devon” I giggle.
I snuggle into his side. He holds me close.
Soon I even manage to fall asleep. Take a nap resting my head on his shoulder. Devon was the one to calm my soul during this trying time. He was always there for me. And I would always be there for him. I was not sure how long I had been napping. Soon Devon is gently shaking my shoulders.
“Wake up sweetheart. We are here! We did it! You landed safe and sound” he cheers happily.
My eyes flutter open and look up at him. I smile back. He leans down kissing me on the lips. Making me swoon inside over him. His kisses always made me go weak in the knees. I adored him so much.
“Come on sweetheart. Let’s go check into our hotel room for the night” he orders.
He takes me by the hand then helps me get up. We head off the plane as the workers unload our luggage. Michael was taking care of me and looking out for me just as he promised he would. I did not have any doubts that he would not. Because he loved me.
