~Ruby~
This was an irritating start to my day. All my attempts at gaining freedom so far, were unsuccessful.
It had taken me three whole f**king days, waiting for a response. That pompous jerk didn't even have the decency to respond to any of the messages I sent him. After another messenger had returned, barely able to meet my questioning gaze, I couldn't take it anymore. I had had enough. I was going to leave this park, one way or another.
It was exactly 6 days since I had awoken from my mimi-coma and I had been locked up in this dungeon. Technically, it was not a dungeon, just a very grand mansion within an even larger pack. But just because you put a bird in a golden cage and clipped its wings didn't mean it still wasn't locked up.
This though, wasn't going to last long. Now that my strength had returned and all my wounds had been healed, (Thank God for fae healing medicine) , I was good as new. All I wanted to do was take in some fresh air, stretch my legs and spend sometime with my grandmother.
Imagine my chagrine when these pompous self privileged guards told me that their even more privileged Alpha had exclusively commanded to not let me off the pack grounds.
"I already told you, I'll be gone for a few days, and I'll return as soon as the Alpha sends for me." I was barely holding back a my anger, the words coming out behind gritted teeth. This was extremely frustrating.
Four guards had been posted in the Western wing and this was 'supposedly' the weakest link in the pack. Who was I kidding. Talking to them was out the question the moment they had mentioned that Alpha.
"We're sorry, Luna. We can't let you leave the border. If we do, the Alpha will have our heads."
"I told you to stop calling me that. "This was yet another reason why I needed a break from this place. These people wouldn't stop calling me Luna. While I knew they couldn't help it, hearing the words come from them made everything a little too real. And that scared me. I wanted to pretend like nothing had happened and it was all a big mistake.
"But..." One of the guards, a redhead with amber eyes began to protest, but paused when one of his friends, another redhead with brown eyes this time, nudged him before gesturing for him to shut up. I was glad that at least one of this people was smart enough.
"I'm sorry Lu- umm, miss but we can't let you go. We're only obeying orders."
"Fair enough. Then I guess I'll give him a reason to be rid of you when he returns. " All four men flinched. Nevertheless, even with that threat, none of them showed any signs of giving in.
I studied the four guards, wondering if everything I had said had gone over their heads. I stayed quite for a while and watched as they shifted their weight on their feet.
I weighed my optionsoptions deciding between giving up and waiting until the Alpha arrived, or a surprise attack. Fighting four grown adult warrior wolves was no easy feast, but that didn't mean I wasn't going to do it nevertheless.
I knew I had to put them in a hard position to fight me as they were following orders, but that didn't mean I was going to pity them and not do things my way. Besides, Patience was a virtue for saints, and I was definitely no saint.
Without wasting time, I attacked the first guard, catching him completely off guard. With his body exposed, it left me with much room to attack his pressure points. The whole point was to leave them temporarily immobile, so I could get time to flee.
The other guards were much quicker to react, but I was ready and prepared. One by one, I immobilized them, leaving them unable to move. Helplessly, they watched on, begging me with their eyes. I ignored them. I had to leave. Either that, or I would go insane.
For the first time ever, I was grateful that my grandmother's acupuncture skills came in handy. With so much knowledge about pressure points, immobilized them had made everything much easier.Putting the last guard to sleep, I sprinted to freedom.

Roars, cheers and whistles filled Bonnie's inn as the people of all lore species watched and cheered on the two people sitted amidst the group.
On one side, sat Simon the giant, his ginger brown beard rivaling that of a Viking. The biggest mug at Bonnie's sat upon his lips as he tried to empty its contents (demon brew), some of the beer slipping into his beard and then slowly, onto his shirt.
I, myself, sat on the other side. Similarly, I held a mug to my lips, the size the same as the giant's mug. A few seconds later, I let out a large belch then banged the empty mug on the table, as I roared out in victory.
Cheers and groans rang out around the inn, followed by the sound of coins clanking against each other. The only thing that was taking place in that moment was the exchange of money as those that had placed bets and lost them paid the winners.
Grunting, Simon pulled a large purse from the inside of his coat. "I'll be sure to beat you in the next round." He grumbled, dropping the purse in my arms. It nearly slipped from my fingers from how heavy it felt.
"And I'll be ready for you." I smiled sweetly, meeting the giant's gaze head on.
The giant narrowed his eyes at me, but didn't say anything as he walked away, his direction clear as he aimed for the nymphs. I gladly received the 100 gold coins, before sauntering off to join my bestie, Ciara.
My best friend was a nymph. A very gorgeous one. I paled in contrast to her. Her red curly waves of hair were styled in an updo, a few strands left to fall in her face. The little ebony silk dress she wore left little to no imagination, her gorgeous curves and legs left on display.
Elegantly styled jewels adorned her arms and ears, while a chocker necklace graced her long neck. Gold glitter high heeled sandals completed the look.
As soon as I got here, she was the first person that had greeted me, obviously after my grandmother had. She had had no idea about my arrest, but had heard everything from my grandmother. As soon as we hugged, she had immediate began bawling her eyes out, fat tears streaming down her face.
"I-I t-thought I would never see you again. " She hiccupped.
I held her tightly, barely holding back my own. "Me too. I thought so too. "
We talked about everything and nothing, both expressing our thoughts and emotions, and before I knew it, we were back to normal selves. And of course, what was a girl's reunion without a girl's night out.
"I still don't understand why you do these things, Ruby." Ciara wondered, shaking her head at me as soon as I had hoisted myself up onto the barstool next to hers. Her luscious lips were puckered in a pout, although her brown eyes glinted with amusement.
I rolled my eyes at Ciara's use of my real name. Everyone else called me Red, save for my grandmother and her. Despite the fact of my persistent urging for her to call me Red, she never did.
Nevertheless, I replied. "I get to have fun kicking these men's asses, and at the same time, I get money. It's a win, win." I said, smiling at her victoriously.
"Plus," I added, "Drinks on me tonight."
It was Ciara's turn to role her eyes, although she smiled back at me. "Just two Martini's, Ruby. I've a client tonight, and you know what that means."
Ciara waggled her brows, and I scrunched up my face in disgust, something that caused Ciara to burst into laughter.
"s*x is very good, and enticing. The only reason your face looks that way is because you haven't had the chance to indulge in the act." Ciara explained, although nothing she said could convince me nor excite me about s*x in particular. I didn't look the part either.
"I just don't understand how poking one's log into your hole is very enticing." I mused, still wondering how people enjoyed the act, more so when it was going to cause you immense pain on your first try. Who did that willingly? Plus, it was so embarassing, having to go completely nude in the presence of someone else.
Well, a lot of people. Must be delusional.
Raising her martini glass to toast with mine, Ciara shrugged. "You'll see. You just have to get the right guy to do it right."
I considered telling my friend that the "meeting the right person" stuff only happened in fairy tales, but instead, decided to keep her mouth shut. I know she would argue. Ciara was a helpless romantic through and through. Besides, now that that other person existed... I didn't know what to believe anymore.
I sipped on my drink. That's why I hadn't mentioned anything to her or my grandmother. I didn't want her encouragement. Ciara being herself would have already began suggesting baby names. And that's why I had decided to stay silent.
I would tell her when the time came.
We both enjoyed our night, chatting amidst ourselves with Ciara filling me up with the latest gossip, pointing out hot potential candidates (Ciara, not I), and dancing amongst ourselves.
“Oh Great Creator.” Ciara gasped, gaze focused on something on the other side of the room.
“What?” I asked, placing my glass of vodka at the bar since we had both decided to take a break from the dance floor. I could see that her pupils had dilated with pleasure. Whatever she was seeing must really be that good.
“What fine men!” She exclaimed. I rolled my eyes, smiling to myself. I should have known a couple of handsome men would make her react that way. I laughed along, deciding to keep up with her shenanigans.
That feeling didn't last long. I tensed as soon as I sensed that energy. With the amount of time I had unwillingly spent with him, there was no mistaking it.
Ciara was obviously still lost in her fantasy, so she didn't notice the moment my body language changed.
I froze, slowly got up from my seat and turned around. I felt my heart drop to my stomach.
"Ruby, is something wrong? "
Clara's voice rang faintly at the back of my head. I doubt I heard her correctly.
But those eyes we're definitely his.
Even in the dim lighting of the in, I knew it was him.
And he was here.
