Chapter Twenty
As Beatrice and Meadow left Oak Haven, Meadow said, “So what’s our next move? And what are your impressions from our conversation with Smokin’ Rita?”
Beatrice said, “I think we should speak to Huey first. After all, it he technically had the most to lose if Vivian were planning on writing a story about his connection to a bank robbery up north. And he had been very threatening to me. I want to see what he has to say about the fire.”
“And your impressions?”
“I’m just glad we went. But there’s a lot to absorb there. We knew Jake was serious about Vivian, but not to that extent. And Gwen breaking into Vivian’s duplex apartment sounds really odd, too,” said Beatrice.
Meadow said, “Let’s go to Huey’s house first, then. And he better let us in, or I’m forcing the door.”
