Inara's POV CONTINUES.
I was stunned to find out that the moon god had mercy on me and gave me a second chance mate, and I was also surprised to find out that my husband-to-be was no other than my second chance mate.
"MATE," I found myself growling, and I knew it was Daniella's doing. Everyone in here gasped before turning to look between the prince and me.
"Isn't it great that your wife-to-be is your fated mate?" The Crown prince, of whom I have no idea what his name is, commented sarcastically, and the disabled prince turned immediately to throw him a sharp look.
"She is not my wife-to-be, nor my mate, for I will be rejecting her." The disabled prince said, and I stood there, stunned, feeling my legs going numb.
'Why was everyone just rejecting me?' I wondered, sadly. 'Was Stephanie truly right when she told me no one would ever want me?' I thought.
Just then, I heard Daniella scoff in disbelief.
"Why the hell do we keep getting paired with big-time Jerks? First our fated mate, now it is this asshole," Daniella yelled inside my head while I looked down at the beautiful floor, sadly.
"Dear Uncle," I heard the disabled prince saying and turned to see him, facing the King with a bow.
' Dear Uncle?' I was in disbelief. ' Wasn't the disabled prince of the king's son?' I wondered.
"I would love to have someone else as my mate, so please acknowledge this request of mine," he said, his head still bent towards the king. My heart clenched tightly at the sight in front of me.
' My second chance mate was also going to choose someone else over me,' I thought in disbelief. Just then, a young, beautiful, sexy lady with long blonde hair walked in towards the disabled prince and stood beside him, proudly, with a smile.
"I want Valerie Kay to be my chosen mate." The disabled prince added, and I gasped, realizing this was truly happening again and that I was being rejected again.
"Dear Nephew," the king began. "Since this is the first request you are asking of me, I am hereby granting it," he said with authority. I was too stunned and pained to speak. Tears were rolling down my cheeks at the moment. I just looked at the disabled prince, wondering what I might have done for him to have rejected me.
' I mean, was I that bad, ugly, or extremely unpleasant to the eyes to be rejected by my two mates, even a cripple at that?' I thought, with a broken heart.
"Princess Inara," I heard the king call. I raise my head timidly to look at him.
"I am guessing you must be so tired from your journey," he began, and I found myself nodding.
"Why don't you turn it now and have some rest, then tomorrow a proper introduction will be made?" He suggested it, and I agreed, thankful to him for being so thoughtful. He snapped his fingers, and a young maid came into his presence.
"Lead Princess Inara to her room." He ordered the maid, who nodded with a bow, before turning around to look at me.
"Please follow me, Princess Inara," she said, and I nodded at her words. She started leaving the throne room, and I followed right away. I needed to get away as soon as possible to have my private moment.
Along the way to my chambers, I could hear whispers, and people sympathized with me secretly.
"Such a pretty lady." A lady whispered to her friend beside her.
" Oh! What a pity; the crippled prince had no idea what he just lost, "another lady commented.
"I guess she must be feeling like hell right now. I heard another whisper and giggled. She was right; I was feeling like hell; my heart hurt and was burning.
"This is your chamber, princess," the maid said while stopping in front of a large door.
"I hope it is to your satisfaction." She added, and I threw her a brief nod and proceeded to enter when she stopped me.
"Is there anything you might need?" She asked politely, and I managed to fake a smile at her while shaking my head sideways, meaning no. I was too numb right now to even utter a thank you.
The maid nodded at me, understanding what I meant. She bowed at me before leaving me alone, like I wanted. I took a deep breath, opened the large door, and stepped into the room before closing the door behind me and sealing the whispers I had been hearing.
I was in too much pain to notice how beautifully decorated my room was. I just made my way to the bed and sat on it, still numb. Since I was alone, I completely gave in to my emotions and started shedding tears. The past two days have been terrible for me.
'Why was the moon goddess doing this?' I wondered. She gave me a second chance, then let him reject me. In my former pack, I have always been trampled on, bullied, and made to clean up after others. I never once retaliated when I was drenched in ice water during the winter period, just because I missed my step and bumped into a rich heiress.
I had always taken every insult and mistreatment to the back of my head, hoping one day my time would come and the moon goddess would rescue me, but I doubt that is going to happen any longer.
' I mean, she gave me a second chance and made him reject me. She gave me hope and took it away,' I thought.
The disabled prince has not broken the bond between us yet, but I know he will anytime soon, and when he does, the king will return me to my pack. I cannot allow that to happen; I must find a way to prove myself to the disabled prince so I will not be rejected.
I decided to go outside for fresh air and stumbled on an open garden instead. I looked up to the sky to admire the stars when suddenly someone hurled into me from behind.
