Inara's POV CONTINUES.
I decided to come out of my room and explore the palace. I stumbled upon an open garden in the process and decided to take a deep breath and have some fresh air to calm my nerves. I stood there silently, enjoying the breeze, and decided to look up into the sky, only to hear some footsteps, and before I knew what was happening, someone hurled into me from behind with great force.
I fell to the floor heavily and groaned in pain.
"OH MOON, GODDESS!" I heard a tiny voice gasp and turned to look, only to see a blonde lady rushing towards me. I groaned, 'What was with blondes causing pain today?' I wondered, and I tried to get up. Just then, I saw a palm outstretched in front of me.
I gasped in amazement before turning to see the blonde lady stretching her palm in front of me to take and get up.
"Please, I am so sorry." She apologized, and I found myself too numb to reply. The lady helped me up while muttering another apology.
"I didn't mean to hurl into you; I should have watched where I was going'. She said. "Please forgive me," she pleaded, but I just kept quiet, looking at her. No one had ever apologized to me before; all they did was take advantage of me, hurt me, and expect me to apologize to them in return.
Just then, the blonde lady did something crazy. She tried kneeling to apologize to me, but I immediately stopped her.
"What are you doing?" I blurted out, and she threw me a bright smile.
"So you are not mute," she commented, and I turned to look away from her.
"You were not accepting my apology, so I thought if I knelt and pleaded, you might forgive me," she explained, and I turned to look at her again, stunned and wondering what kind of species she was.
"What kind of species are you?" I blurted out without thinking, and she gave me a weird look. I immediately sealed my mouth and turned to look away from her face once again. Just then, I heard her chuckle.
"Are you perhaps embarrassed?" She asked, but I continued to ignore her.
"Well, if you must know, I am a werewolf, just like you are," she told me. Meanwhile, inside me, Daniella was blaming me for being stupid enough to ask such a question. Just then, I felt a gentle hand holding my chin with care and turning me to face her.
"You do not have to be embarrassed; I understand," she said, and those few words just melted my heart for some unknown reason.
"She seems like a nice girl," Daniella commented, and I couldn't agree more with her.
"By the way, I am Catty Wheels." The blonde lady introduced herself, offering me her right hand for a handshake.
"What is yours?" She asked, and I kept quiet, staring at her hand for a while. 'Someone was willing to know who I was?' I thought in disbelief.
"Inara Finn," I replied, taking her hand in mine. Her hand was surprisingly soft and warm. Suddenly, I heard her let out a giggle. I turn to look at her face, to see her beaming with smiles, with no hint of sadness on her face at all.
I envied her at the moment and wished that one day I would be as happy as her and could beam smiles all day with no care in the world. A tear dropped from my eyes, just at the thought, and fell on her hand. We both gasped, stunned.
I instantly tried to clean it, but she stopped me.
"Why are you sad?" She asked, and I felt like breaking down into tears once again, but I controlled myself and threw her a fake smile instead.
"Nothing," I replied, and she threw me an "I don't believe you" look. "Why did you giggle earlier?" I asked, hoping to change the subject.
"I hate fake smiles," I heard her say, and I looked downward in shame, knowing she could read my expression.
"I know you might not trust me yet, so let me know what is going on with you," she began. "But know this: no matter how bad a situation, you might find yourself at any time; one day, you will be okay," she added, and her words soothed my heart.
"But all this is too much," I said and busted into tears, releasing all the emotions I was holding back from her. The next thing I knew, she took me into her arms and hugged me tightly, calming me down with soothing words.
"Do not worry, everything will be alright." She said, but I kept on crying into her arms, feeling heartbroken, frustrated, or just tired of being rejected and hurt by everyone.
"Now, stop crying, or I will join you," she said, and I found myself letting out a giggle before releasing myself from her embrace.
"There," she said with a smile, and she used her hands to wipe the tears, staining my cheeks.
"You look awful with tears staining your beautiful face," she commented, and I smiled.
"Thank you," I appreciated genuinely, and she nodded.
"You are so nice," I told her, and she huffed with a smirk.
'No, I am not; I am people's worst nightmare" she said, trying to emphasize the" nightmare", by trying to act scary. I giggled once again.
"So who are you? I have never seen this face before," she said, and I smiled at her before explaining who I was to her.
"So you are the rejected princess." She blurted out and sealed her mouth immediately while throwing me an apologetic look.
"I am sorry," she muttered, and I laughed.
"It's okay, I understand," I told her. We found a place to sit and got along just fine. I found myself telling her virtual things about myself and also letting her in on my wish.
"I wish to become so strong, so I can prove myself worthy to the disabled prince, stand up for myself, and be able to protect my mom in the future," I told her, and there was silence for a while. I turned to look at her and saw a struggling expression on her face.
"What is it?" I asked, and she turned to look at me with a serious expression.
"Are you sure, with what you just said?" She asked, and I nodded determinedly.
"HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE GROUP OF REBELS?" SHE ASKED.
