ADRIANA'S POV
She wished her eyes were just deceiving her. But she couldn't be wrong. The mask, the staggering arrogance as he walked inside like he owned the property, and most importantly, the way her wolf side suddenly started to get excited as if finally seeing a long lost partner.
Her eyes were not deceiving her. It was the same man she met on the boat. The man who was wounded and she helped treat the wounds. The man whom she pretended to have s*x with. The man who is, as far as she knows, Julian's enemy.
This man's name is Reagan Terranova. Now she understood what he said earlier before they both parted ways. That she's going to know him soon enough.
Adriana quickly went through the information she knew about Reagan in her head. She heard about Reagan's name before but she never got the chance to see him face to face so she had no idea that the man she met on the boat was actually him!
Her wolf side started to whimper like a heated animal and she wanted to curse herself because of it.
She may have not seen him face to face but she knows some things about the eldest son of the Terranova family. Reagan is not a legitimate child. His mother was their mansion's servant.
His mother, Penelope, had a gentle and soft temperament but was overly weak, passing away early due to illness. Without a mother, Reagan became a child who has no support. When the Luna arrived for the Alpha, Reagan learned to leave with his family's negligence. Especially when his brother, Julian, was born. As a result, at the age of nine, the child was sent to live with relatives and later became a warrior when he became a little older.
From a normal header to a universally respected man in the military, Reagan Terranova fought through bullets and rain, stepping on blood and bones, establishing great military achievements, and leaving behind the nickname "Iron-fisted Evil." For many years, he fought on the border and never returned to Westfall. People in Westfall said he was ugly, and cruel, and even rumored that he liked to drink human blood and eat human hearts. As she said before, people in the city liked to have something to talk about. They would talk even with the most nonsense things because there is no way that this man is capable of eating human hearts and drinking blood when he couldn't even dodge a bullet.
At this thought, Adriana raised her eyelids and secretly glanced at Reagan Terranova. Her wolf side leaped in excitement that she had to take a deep breath to calm it down.
Adriana noted that he always wore a mask. Even on the boat, he was wearing a mask. She only saw his eyes and his mouth as it curved into a playful grin. Why was he always wearing a mask? Could it be because he was ugly?
But then one memory crossed her mind. When she saw him in the dimly lit cabin, he had a magnificent build! Evidence of the years he spent training and fighting as a warrior. And even as she just saw his eyes and his mouth, she knew that the man is sinfully handsome. He had to be. Her wolf seemed to wiggle its tail as she recalled more moments they had on the boat.
His voice was cold but it was pleasant to listen to, except for his somewhat rude way of speaking causing her to actually consider stabbing him to death. He's insufferable and, despite his rogue demeanor, he didn't hurt her. If anything, he saved and helped her.
Just before getting off the ship, Adriana had hoped that she would never see this man again, and yet here they are. Fate has its own way of playing with them as it happens that Reagan Terranova is the man she thought of killing.
And then suddenly, Reagan's eyes met hers and she sucked in a breath. It was just their eyes meeting and yet her heart ratcheted to a thunderous beat. The feeling she had earlier was back. The electrifying feeling she could feel from deep down her core and spreading through her body.
She saw Reagan angling his head as he looked at her, as though telling her that he felt it too. She quickly averted her gaze and cleared her throat.
Adriana hid her surprise and quietly lowered her presence. However, with her wolf getting excited, she has no doubt that Reagan could smell it from across the room. The commanding presence she felt earlier was undoubtedly from his wolf side too.
She stole another glance at him and he was still looking in her direction! An amused smile curved his lips and she just wanted not to be there and get away from the man as far as she could. She doesn't understand her feelings whenever he's near.
It was he who averted his gaze first and sat down, leaning lazily against the high-back armchair. The guests all went silent in his presence, as though a little noise from them could mean they were signing their death warrant. Her family also went quiet, clearly not expecting the arrival of Reagan who have not been home for many years.
However, she saw something else in their eyes. It was fear. They are scared of Reagan Terranova.
She looked at him again and noted the arrogant and dismissive attitude. His col and powerful aura caused everyone to stay quiet and the guests all had their eyes on the floor. She could not hear the whispers. She could have sworn everyone in the room stopped breathing.
This is the Alpha's eldest son, Aerilon pack's eldest young marshal! As expected, he made people shiver with fear and trepidation. "Marshal Reagan, you..." Harris approached, trying to say something, but Reagan suddenly flicked his wrist and the dagger went flying in Harris' direction.
It landed on Harris' foot. Her father stumbled back and groaned in pain as he fell. As wolves, being pierced by a dagger is not a big deal. But to be pierced with a dagger in front of many people is a different story.
"Brother! What are you trying to do to my father-in-law?" Julian shouted.
But Reagan merely smiled and said, "Sorry, my hand slipped."
Reagan stood up, leisurely walked over to Harris, and reached out his hand.
Harris thought he was offering help, and quickly said, "It's fine, it's fine." But then Reagan just went to pull out the dagger from Harris' foot. Without giving a second glance, he went back to his seat.
"Little brother, you haven't even married Roseinhart's illegitimate daughter yet, and you're already calling him your father-in-law? You sure are eager." Reagan's tone was emotionless, and his face showed a clear hint of sarcasm.
"Brother, your words are too harsh. She's my fiancée, your future sister-in-law..." Julian's face darkened.
"Really?" Reagan sneered, "She doesn't look like she likes me to be her brother-in-law, though." Reagan directed his gaze to Maeve who went silent.
Adriana saw how Julian clenched and unclenched his fists as he looked at his older brother. As far as she knows, Julian sent men to hurt Reagan. But they were not successful. Julian is probably pissed at the moment.
However, Reagan didn't seem to care about Julian's anger, and simply used a soft cloth from his pocket to wipe the dagger, then continued to trim his nails. He knew that Julian sent men to kill him but he did not say anything about it.

THIRD PERSON'S POV
One of the Gammas he came in with stepped forward and announced loudly, "I am here on the orders of Marshal Reagan to deliver a gift to the Lady of the house. Please accept the gift for the Roseinhart residence!"
"For me?" Katherine was both shocked and delighted while Adriana was still shocked with the events.
Katherine couldn't help but wonder why would Reagan Terranova give her a gift.
Could it be that her daughter caught Reagan's eye while she was involved with Julian?
She glanced at Maeve Roseinhart, who was looking at Reagan, and assumed her guess was correct.
"Maeve, why didn't you mention that you knew Marshal Reagan earlier?" she whispered to her daughter as she eyed the two boxes laid by Reagan's Gamma.
She didn't care if it was appropriate for the two Alpha brothers to fight over her daughter.
It wasn't her fault that she gave birth to a daughter who could attract the attention of the two most precious young men in the Aerilon pack!
And, such large boxes, they must contain so many valuable things! And they are all hers.
Katherine touched one of the large boxes, ready to open it, when suddenly, a loud sound of a gun resounded in the hall, making her stop. It was then that she realized that her hand was shot.
"Where did this lowly and despicable thing come from, daring to touch the gift Marshal Reagan sent to Mrs. Roseinhart?"
"Marshal Reagan, I believe Lady Katherine is who you're looking for. She is the new Lady of the House after the previous Lady's death three years ago." Lady Racquella stepped in.
And then Reagan's brows raised, his eyes roaming around until they settled on Adriana.
Katherine was on the ground and nobody dared to go to her and help. She clutched her hand as it bled but eventually, it healed on its own.
It was then that everybody saw what was inside the box. It had all kinds of things but what caught everyone's eye were the coins for burial.
