Chapter 4After one night of respite, Miguel’s dreams returned. He endured several nights of very little sleep, pushing himself through work the next day with difficulty. Finally, after four restless nights, Shamus sent another message.
We’ll be going on the mission in the next couple of days. I can’t tell you any more than that, and I won’t be able to communicate with you again until we are finished. Keep me in your thoughts, but don’t worry. I’ll talk to you again soon.
And that was it. No live chat this time. No messages of love. No references to a future life together. Clearly the man was focused on his job, and Miguel would have to be content with being pushed aside for a while.
But Miguel understood it had to be this way. Shamus would have to be totally focused on what he was doing
