Mia's POV The cold marble floor pressed against my back as I lay at the bottom of the stairs, listening to the commotion above. My ribs ached, my breathing shallow, but my wolf, Ima, worked quickly, knitting my bones back together and numbing the pain. I stayed still, my eyes closed, feigning helplessness to see how they would react. “Mia!” Xavier’s voice called out, his footsteps echoing as he rushed toward me. Nathan and Sean followed close behind. “Don’t touch her!” Layla shrieked from the top of the stairs. “She attacked me! She tripped on her own!” The brothers hesitated, exchanging glances. I felt their presence around me, but none of them dared to touch me. Of course they will take her side; how could I even expect them to listen me and take my side. “She doesn’t have a wolf,”
