I had lived in the palace for years and yet I knew nothing about the passageways. Cleo told me about them as I drove us towards the exit of the one my father had used. She told me how there were lots of different passageways throughout the house but how her father had blocked most of them off with magic to keep everyone in the palace safe.
At some point my father must have unblocked them but that only gave me more questions. For instance, how did he know they were there in the first place and why did he compromise on safety by opening them up when they could just as easily be used against him.
