“I know that you hate someone watching over you, Mom, but please, for my relief, let him stay around you.” I pleaded to my mother while holding her hands tightly.
“Why are you so worried, Char? This is not the first time that I have been ambushed.” I could see that she was trying to suppress her irritation and anger towards me, but she needed to understand my fear too.
“But this is the first time that I almost lost you, Mom.” I retorted in a choked voice.
She looked at me with a complicated gaze this time.
